Hey gang, big props to all the great info here. I searched for this beforehand, and didn't find anything, so here's my question.
If I plug my phone in to charge, the LOUD ring profile is selected by the phone. This is regardless of what profile I had it on when I was not charging it. I can actually plug the phone into and off the charger, and watch it change ring profiles.
1. Is this normal
2. Can I disable it
3. Can I tell it to default to a different profile when charging
Thanks gang.

1. Yes
2. Not sure
3. They do this because if your phone's on say vibrate while your walking around and its charging you won't hear it, so they do it to allow you to hear your phone ring while you are charging it. Of course it doesn't lock the phone to that style, if you don't want it on that then each time the charger is plugged in you must go in and change it to the one you want.
I'm not sure if you can do a hex edit to remove that but hey they might. Anyone like to add?

Is this only on the Motorola V551 and up, or on the V300, V500 etx. If this is present on the V500, my phone isn't automatically set to loud when charging... I prefere it that way!

I'm not sure what other models do this. My only empirical evidence is that it is happening on my V551.

The V3 does it also, I think the idea was when your charging its typically sitting on a desk or the like and not in your pocket so vibrate would a. risk having the phone shake its way off and b. you won't feel it cuz its not on your person.

Ya like i said, theres no real reason for it not to be on loud when you charge it. Vibrates a potential hazard and silent won't do anything for you when its charging. But no I don't think it has a set limit as to what models and up it does it to. I have a T720 and it does that to mine, which might i add doesn't bother me.

It happens on my V525 and I find it very anoying.
I would like to be able to set ring sytle for charging, so i plug charer in and it changes to loud, I then go into ring stlyes and set it to something else. remove charger, and insert again/ back to loud.

My motorolla V 557 also goes to the LOUD setting when I charge it. I hate it because I charge it at night when I'm going to bed. I always keep my phone on vibrate anyways. I wish it would stay that way, even when charging because if i forget to change it back and someone calls me i get woken up:!:
I also can nott figure out if there is a setting to change this problem, or find a solution for it.

Well, my new V3 is doing this too, and it's highly annoying. I understand the premise, but I think it would be best if the phone just remembered which profile it was set to when it goes from plugged in to unplugged and vice/versa.
This is highly annoying when I'm connected to my laptop and MPT, and am in a meeting and have it on vibrate on purpose.

I have toy with this a little bit and found out that if you have it on vibrate then it will turn to loud, but if you have it on loud it will turn to silent when you have the charger plug in!!!! this is on V551 and V3...well mine is that way
