I recently bought a "mitsumi bluetooth USB ADAPTOR".
I install it and connect it and when I run the software, it recognises and displays my 3650 as a bluetooth device.
However, when I start Nokia PC Suite, it tells me this is the first time it has been used and I must connect my phone.
I have paired a device with my pc and my 3650.
I have clicked on the mRouter icon and ticked all bluetooth ports.
On my phone's display, there is only a dot. It is not in brackets.
As I said, the bluetooth software recognises my phone, but pc suite does not.
I am running Windows XP and am using the second adaptor (the one with 10 metre range).
Please can anyone help me? I don't want to have wasted €98 on a worthless piece of equipment when I could have bought an infra red port for the same price.
I cannot bring it back to the shop becase I bought it on holiday and the shop is about 300 - 400 miles away!
Please help.

The main problem come from bluetooth software provided with MITSUMI Bluetooth USB adapter, this light suite works fine with standard operations like bt discovery service, pairing, file transfer, OBEX push, etc. But when you try to establish a "virtual" serial connection with your dongle the software go down and you cannot use Nokia PC Suite.
So... firstly we need to change software and let it works, the best suite I saw has been produced by Widcomm provided us by Anycom.
Maybe they are somewhere in the web, use google
Before to install the software you have to uninstall (if needed) Mitsumi suite from your system using Windows uninstaller in Control Panel. Then remove manually the file "btmtmusb.pnf" or "btmtmusb.inf" which you can find in "c:\windows\inf" (W98/WME) or into the folder "c:\winnt\inf" (NT/W2K/XP).
Now, you have to open WINZIP load the new suite you have downloaded and extract the content into a temporarly folder.
You'll see a quite short list of files, open in text-mode a file called "btwusb.inf"
and look for line that containts:
USB_VID_044e&PID_3001
(you should find 2 lines)
change that string with this one:
USB_VID_03EE&PID_641F
Save the file.
Right now, you're ready to install the suite run setup.exe or .msi file, like you prefer.
Finally, we have a Mitsumi Bluetooth adapter works fine with every kind of services, with Nokia PC suite also.

From another Bluetooth-Posting:
| ~ ZoooZ ~ wrote: | hi
i bought my nokia 3650 and bought with it a bluetooth device. in the beggining i faced troubles making it to work then i reed more how to connect it and let the nokia 3650 connect to the pc. i noticed that its sooo easy to connect. the most important this is that ur bluetooth device ( what ever was it kind ) must have a support for SPP (Serial Port Profile)
and after this u can activate the spp and the nokia pc suit that came with the mobile will work perfectly... and also u can use the mobile as modem or fax. many options there and transfering ur pics and vedios.... u can buy any bluetooth device but the remeber that it must support SPP (Serial Port Profile)
thats all |

I did a search in google and found the software. I followed the instructions, uninstalling the old software and deleting a file by hand. I installed the new software, but when the progress bar reached "installing bluetooth modems" an "add new hardware wizard" popped up. I tried this, but it took too long, so I closed it. Then, the setup for the anycom software wouldn't go any further. So I exited that and restarted my computer.
I went to the control panel and into "add new hardware" and installed "anycom usb thingymabob". I then ran the software and noticed it was nearly exactly the same as the one I had on my computer before (I had two programs - mitsumi bluetooth suite and another one)
I have the same problem as before - it does not recognise my phone. Bluetooth is turned on in my phone and I have the anycom software set to "display all devices".
However, unlike my old software, when I go to "view my bluetooth services" and then try to enable "my bluetooth serial port" or any option for that matter, I get an error message saying
"Local Service Failed - Error Code : Failed to allocate SCN.
This is practically the same software as I had before. It does not recognise my phone. At least Mitsumi suite did. I seem to have made the problem worse.

I found the problem and now pc suite works fine. When I uninstalled my old software, I did not disconnect the bluetooth adaptor from the computer when prompted. When I did this, the new software installed fine. I then plugged in the adaptor and installed the drivers.
THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH!!!!!!!

True, I did solve the problem myself, but would never have known to use that software and install different drivers if it wasn't for you. Again thank you! If we ever meet, I will buy you a drink!

Ive got a mitsumi Bluetooth adapter and a nokia 3650. They connect to each other fine but i cant use nokia pc suite or remote s60 which is really annoying.
I was wandering which version of Widcomm u guys use ? I downloaded 2.9 but there is a 2.7 too
As i downloaded and installed with yr recommended modifications which didnt quite match yr help text (as there was only 1 line not 2).
An then when i ran the widcom bluetooth program it couldnt find the driver for my bluetooth adapter.
Im now going to try an install widcom with the mitsumi suite still installed an see what happens.
Any ideas people

Keep looking. There is 2 lines that you have to change. One is near the top, and the other one is a few lines down from that.
