Okay, I have read several postings on several forums, and none have gotten me to work yet. Here's my deal. I have:

Moto V551
USB cable
Old AMD K6 350MHz
48MB Ram
3GB HDD
Windows 98SE - no other software installed
PST 6.7_GENERAL Phone Programmer
MIDway 2.8
Mobile Phone Tools 3.19e1
Motorola Vxxx Mod Tool
Jadgen
MOBILedit Lite 1.94
P2K_driver_2.3
SKN 6311_USB_Driver

I am able to transfer MP3, wav, pics, and transfer numbers. When I try to follow the instructions to upload games with PST, I get "Phone not connected..." error. It is showing in the devices as "Motorola USB Modem" and in the Modem list, when I go ot diagnostics, I get the querry showing that it is communicating. I have played with this for a little while with no success. I just need to upload games to my phone, I don't want to modify anything, YET. Please someone, help? I would like to post the result on my web page when I get this working, and maybe even links to some software (if it is legal icon_confused.gif )? Thank you.

Okay, after several hours of playing, I got nothing. Don't know why. However, here is a very simple way of doing this on the V551, I do not know if it works with any other.
I used a Kensington Bluetooth USB Adapter Part #33085 that I bought at BestBuy for $40 US, it comes with adapter, and a CD with all the drivers and software. Just install the software and do what it says. I then followed these instructions:

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=358279

and it worked first try icon_grin.gif . They say you can't do it through Bluetooth, but it works on the V551 (I can't say about any other phone). I still use Mobile Phone Tools to transfer my pics, sounds and other junk. I load all my games and apps through the Bluetooth though.

Any more thoughts or ideas though?

i too load everything via BT...just by right clicking whatever i'm send (if a game/app, i send the .jar and not the .jad like with midway).
make sure your BT and cable are NOT plugged in at the same time
SKN 6311_USB_Driver is for that particular cable only...make sure it is the type that has the power socket slot in the head.
If PST still fails...try reinputting the patch again...this should do it

Thank you greenleaf. Yep, my cable does have the powerslot, and I tried several things to make it work, but this BT is so much easier. I just use the same method, right clicking on the game, that you mentioned. I did not know it would work untill late last night. Anyway, I love the fact that I now have GAMES.

I am now working on a new project. I am trying to find out what can be loaded to a V60i. A friend wants to see what he can load on his. MP3, games, whatever. I will dig around here and see what I find.

I have activated Java App Loader in my V551 and have the JAD files o put on there. I Select Java App Loader on my phone, connect the USB cable and open MIDway, open the JAD file, click the send JAD icon, and it says "TIMER EXPIRED". I went into the device manager and checked the COM port that my motorola modem is on. It is COM3 so i went into MIDway and changed the settings to com3, then the bggest of the two numbers in the drop down menu, followed by AT in the last box. but i still cant get MIDway to send the files to my phone.

Any solutions? icon_ermm.gif

Bobby2sox, how did you activate java app loader? I looked all over my phone and never found one. Your V551 has Bluetooth built in. Use that. It is so much easier. Just go buy a small bluetooth USB adapter for your computer, install the software for it, then take a look at my previous post on this thread. It is a lot less headache and worked for me every time. I use it and Mobile Phone Tools to transfer pics, sounds and other junk like that and use just the blue tooth app for games and apps. If ou have any Q's ask me. I have 2 Moto V551's (mine and my wifes) and have learned a lot about them.
