I posted this in the Samsung forum, but I thought I'd try my luck here too:
I recently bought an unlocked d500 on Ebay to use with T-Mobile in LA. The phone seems to be in working order except for some network/call issues.....1) I can only get onto Cingular's network as the phone doesn't pick up T-mobile when it searches for networks. The reception seems fine, but 2) I can only recieve incoming calls; I recieve an eror message whenever I try to dial out (and when I send text messages).
I've heard in the UK some folks were experiencing similar problems, but can someone in help me out in the US?

I am wondering how you got past the welcome screen?!!
I bought a D500 on ebay and the phone will not come up. It recognizes that a sim card is installed but that's it; doesn't get past, welcome to t-mobile...
I brought it to a t-mobile service center and they had the same problem with 2 sim cards.
Any ideas?

Did you guys ever figure this one out? I just got the phone and the same thing. I can get calls and sms, but I cant make any outgoing calls.

Hi - I've been searching the forum for a similar problem to mine, and yours is the only one!!
did you sort yours out? mine isn't as bad, its just whenever i text it comes up with 'error' and is starting to really annoy me as noone can help and now I can't send texts atall!

Are you on the west coast? You're not being charged for roaming. T-Mobile uses Cingular's network in CA, NV, etc. your D500 is showing Cingular. It's not a problem but you can always turn off the display that shows Cingular if you want.
The reason you are unable to make outgoing calls or sms is because you have an old VoiceStream SIM card. You can go to any T-Mobile store and pick up a new one for about $20. Yes, you will keep your same phone #.

Hello. I have an ORANGE ( UK ) D500 , which is totally unlocked. Im using it in Brazil, it shows the same error as yours, except... I cannot make nor receive calls , altough my simcard is accepted and recognized.. it even shows the menus from the operator ( TIM ) , but... its not working. Do you know how to solve this ?
