I just got a motorola v690 and I use cingular as my carrier and i cannot connect to the web. It was one of those unlocked phones.

contact cingular and have them give you the wap settings

I did and the phone still does not recognize the wap settings. Could it be that the phone has something internal that needs to be hacked into? I got the phone off ebay and it was shipped to me from hong kong. Does that make any difference?

it shouldn't if it's an unlocked phone, did you make sure the cingular browser settings are marked as the default ones?

If you could help me step by step, maybe I can figure out what went wrong. I did mark it, but maybe i must have missed something. The settings for Cingular are as follows: IP adress: 66.209.11.61, APN: WAP.CINGULAR, user id: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM, the pin cingular1. But where do I enter the APN info at on this phone? There was no place in the web browser settings for it.

Have you phones your service provider and had them activate WAP/GPRS on your SIM card?
