Does anybody know is it possible to programme our own firmwares. For example add MP3 function to T610, create animations in menus (when in main menu, while calling or sending data), add advanced settings to some features, add java MIDP 2.0, extend memory control (folders), change shortcuts on buttons (like wap, joystick, num buttons), add frames to camera, add handsfree option (if you want to more persons hear your conversation), add value convertor, allow to change background is menus, add zoom in picture viewer, add large resolutions (you could switch parts of display while holding wap button and joystic) maybe even add video to camera etc.icon_rolleyes.gif It would be a new phone, like k700 but without so much memory. And here is solution. If somebody buy USB cable (for mobile) and somehow inserts a USB memory, and we add support for mass storage device (like Windows XP) into firmware, we could have better memory options then k700. But here is the problems. How large is the memory for firmware? Will there be enough memory for that large firmware (we could solve this problem with moludes, like mp3 module), and how large is that memory? How do we know what hardware "drivers" are to example call a number? I hope that all this things are possible icon_lol.gif , but if not icon_mad.gif icon_devil.gif icon_sad.gif icon_nuke.gif icon_sick.gif icon_cry.gif .

I highly doubt that it's possible. But if somehow you find a way and you're able to do all those, then Sony Ericsson should hire you into their R&D department.

Why it wouldn't be possible? If T and Voda can add their stuff in menus why we couldn't? icon_wink.gif

Perhaps they have contracts with SE? Perhaps SE people made their special firmware for them?

Personally, I don't think writing or even modifying a firmware is a simple task. icon_smile.gif

We could ask SE to give us a hardware codes (or try monitor the phone actions), and we could start as open source (remember Firefox!) icon_smile.gif

Hmm, well, if they did, they should be the most idiotic idiot who shouldve owned SE by the time that should happen.. Which will never be.

I mean, if SE started to give out their FW to anyone, then people from nokia/motorola/siemens/samsung and all these guys just take it and sell it by just modifying it alitle. I mean, the FW for the phone is the most secret thing in them. Its like an aircraft from.. hmm, lets say Swedish Airforce. Gripen, which is sold widly to other governments. All the governments buy is the hardware(the motor, radar, istruments, wings, cockpit etc.) The software which controls everything in the aircraft is not following, as they have to create it them self.

Thats because in the Swedish Gripen there are secrets, which no one else knows then the head of the defence. (Not the King of Sweden.)

Now that was just an example. But its the same thing, if people from Nokia came to an SE factory and took photos, got caught, and they shouldve get into jail. The same thing counts for the aircrafts. Lets say.. hmm.. brazil(I think they where the last buyers of the Gripen aircraft...) send a spy to take photos/copy files of softwares, and got cought, he would most probably get in jail for many many years.

This was an huge example of Spying and sending away free firmwares/softwares to other companys...

Now if u red this long. Go get ur self some coffe, otherwise u wont be able to read any other topic here on ME.com. icon_devil.gif icon_devil.gif
