I just recently ordered a USA IrDA adapter to transfer files from my computer to my Samsung E105. I am using EasyGPRS and when it connects to the phone it downloads everything but freezes when it tries to get the SIM Phonebook.... which is fine after i X out of it. Everythign else is still there. So then i tried transfering an MMF melody, (around 8kb), and it gets to the very end and says "failed to send melody". Does anybody know what's wrong? It always seems to kick out at the end of something.

Your port speed is too high. Go to Device Manager, your IrDA device, Properties, drop max speed to, say, 57,600. Do the same in EasyGRPS, Tools, Setup.
Keep dropping speed until it DOWNLOADS from PC Ok.
BTW make sure you use MA620 driver on IrDA devices - the ES series will not work, despite being included with many devices!
Don't worry, been there, done that on all this nonsense.

Yeah, i've tried the port speed. Strangely enough when i set it to 57600 it wont acknowledge that the phone's there anymore...
So how do you install the MA-620 drivers instead? Under device manager mine is listed as a "Kingsun SA-620" or something like that...

Google the free driver sites for MA 620 (you will have to join to d/l - use real Email add, but use spare one to avoid spam!)
Run Driver/Install. exe. Reboot. Plug in device. Hardware Wizard will ask for MA-620.sys, point it to the .sys in d/l folder.
IrDA devices are always 'active' so use 'Safely Remove Hardware' prog. (mine came with Speedtouch) before unplugging IrDA device or it will drop the driver and need redoing!

Thanks for your help so far. But when I attempt to install the ma620 drivers in the hardware manager, it says "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware"... This is kind of getting annoying. My main probably tho however is that when i set the speed to 57600 (this is back to the old Kingsun sf-620 drivers now), it doesn't recognize the phone.... any further help would be greatly appreciated, and hopefuly i'll figure this out.
BTW, this is the IrDA adapter I bought... is it a bad one maybe? (hope not)

Hmm, Ma-620 .... when you reboot after running Install.exe, Plug in device, then bring up H/ware Wiz Perform&Main/System/Hardware).
Then : Yes, aleady conn/Add new hardware device/Manually select/Infrared Devices/'Mobile Action Tech'/ Next.
That should do it and then point it at MA620 .sys file, when requested.
I'll check out the rest, in the meantime, change port speed to 9600 on both IrDA device and in Easy, and work up.
Keep me posted.
EDIT checked out your device - device OK, rubbish driver - which is why they are so cheap! MA620 driver will sort it, I reckon - did for me.

Still getting the dreaded "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware" message... Is it possible that the MA620 drivers will not work w/ my device or is it something i'm doing wrong? Did i not do a clean enough uninstall of the old SF620 drivers maybe? Or am I using the wrong MA620 drivers (got it from www.mobilaction.com) since my IrDA device isn't made by mobile action....?

I use these people : http://drivermagic.co.nz/p/nph-welcome.php
(it was free and you don't need their Wizard thing)
No need to uninstall any other drivers. Your device wasn't made by the Kingsun people either. This is a driver problem, not a device problem. Use site above for MA 620 driver and it will work on your device (it's just the same as mine)

Hmmm.... something's still going wrong. I run DriverInstall.exe, reboot, put the device in, and the hardware wizard starts up. When i manually select and choose "Infrared Devices", it reads "Unable to find any drivers for this device". Weird... really hoping I'll be able to solve this and once again i really appreciate the help.
