i got a new se Z500a a week ago. the thing locked up 3 times in one week. the screen was blue, and i couldn't get it to do anything. i had to remove the battery everytime to reset it. so, i traded it in for a new one yesterday. today- same exact thing. anybody had this experience? they transferred the sim card to the new phone, is it possible that could cause these problems?

Hey that is so wierd because I had the same exact problem too. It would do the blue screen thing, and I would have to take the battery out. So I went back and I just exchanged phones for the Moto v400, which I must say is a much better quality phone then the SE z500a. Some downsides of the v400 though are that it doesn't have video, and aim. All in all, I think you should get rid of that phone! I hate it! Never again SE! (I had the t616 and it wasn't that great either.)

I had the same issue. Called SE and was told that there is a problem with the software on the first batch of phones that went out. They told me to go back to the store and see if they have a new batch. There is a date code on the back. On mine it is 04W48 which means it was manufatured on week 48 of 2004. Another way to tell is if you cannot open an SMS with the phone closed. You are supposed to be able to open an SMS message with the phone closed by simply pressing the "+" volume button.

I got two Z500a's a week ago, and so far they've been working ok (I haven't had the blue screen problem). But I cannot open any SMS with the phone closed.
Their date codes are 04W52 and 05W02. Does this mean I will have the blue screen problem anytime soon?

So...the not being able to read SMS doesn't have anything to do with the defective batch?
How can I update my firmware? Sorry...newbie here heh.
thanks!

Sorry, it's me again. i guess to update your firmware you have to take the phone to a service center. I actually don't mint not being able to view the SMS in the outer screen, I just want the phone to not die on me.
Sooo, I guess my question is: does this defect appear only in the first batch?

i have an 05w02 and I have been experiencing the blue screen problems. Did taking it to the service center and having the firmware upgraded fix the problems or do i need a whole new phone?
