So i understand the 0.01 per kilobyte question, but if my understanding and math is correct, then this gprs thing can definitely blow your bill up. for example, not knowing any better i accessed some website through some message on my phone and it said it recieved 3620 bytes. so, multiply that by 0.01 and you get $36.20, right? Are these 3620 bytes measured in kilobytes or is there some other process of math needed to be done?
So, for someone who recieved a big number, like 87,400 bytes or 35,000 bytes, if this is multiplied by 0.01/kb rule, it would be $874 and $350 respectively, right?

3620 bytes is 3.62 kb which would only be 3.6 cents.

kilo = 1000 (as in kilometer = 1000 meters), the rate would actually be .00001 per byte, so your 3,000 bytes would cost 3.00 as noted in the earlier post.
It would make more sense if the phone reported usage in KB rather than B, but I'm guessing it has to do with tracking total usage over the month rather than one session at a time...

OK, so along these lines do they charge for JUST what you download or also what you upload e.g. total data volume?
I noticed that I hit the cingular button on my phone by accident and hit cancel. The phone then reported that it had sent 3600 bytes....dang...
I would have rather used those productivly.
Wha'ts the scoop?
Thanks,

if you don't plan on using the internet there is a way to turn the profile off on the phone, but by your previous text messaging question it sounds like you got the Media Basic package that includes 250 text messages, 50 multimedia messages and 1MB of internet so you shouldn't be charged anymore than that plan you already paid for.

I have the basic plan, I am just wondering how they count the volume of data...
Recieved or sent and recieved?
