Hi all,
I just registered and this is my first post. I'm posting because I'm looking for a new cellphone and I can't decided which to get. I narrowed my cellphone search down to the Motorola V551 or the Motorola V505.
I just cannot decide which on to get. I like the Motorola V551 because of all the features it has such as the video camera feature. But I like the design of Motorola V505 better (In fact, I really like the V505's design). Also, I don't know what the video quality of the Motorola V551 is and if its something I would use because of that.
If you were in my place which phone would you get? What are the more features that the V551 has over the V505? Are those features something you would really use (or are they even usable, ex. the video quality)? Do the features of the V551 make it more worth buying then the good looks of the V505? Or is the V505 enough with its features?
. . . What do you think? The Motorola V551 or the Motorola V505?
Thanks in advance,
Andrew (Topkart)

V551 has only two features V505 does not have: EDGE and video!
For me, I don't use WAP internet and no need to use a tiny video (15s limit) because I have a Zire 72 PDA and V505 is cheaper!
V505 and V551 is 99% the same! I do have both V551 and V505 and the reception is good on both of them!
I argee that V505 look better than V551 so if you want the beauty of V505 and don't want to do mess with many mods, go with V505!
P.S. you can still mod your V505 but some did not work on V505 Triplet S/W!
You will DEFINATELY miss the "vibe AND ring" if you go with V505 because there is a new hack allow V551 to have vibe AND ring (tested on both by me)

Why, with the V505 is it not possible to turn-on the ringer AND the viberate at the same time?

I have the V551 and it has the Vibe and ring already, did nothing to it, no hack... Go to menu>settings>style, there you'll find five different audio styles including vibe and ring!
Maybe some V551's don't come out of the box with this??

Noooo... the v551 never (?) had vibe AND ring just had vibe THEN ring. It was one of the top 10 complaints about the phone (or with most Vxxx phone).
I seem edited the V551 in order to get it vibe AND ring. However V505 can't even with its seem edited

S/W: software. Just like your computer, the phone need software and firmware to work! "Triplet" is the version my V505 has. I believe that V400 and V600 are also have "Triplet".
The default ring style on the V505 are:
-Loud
-Soft
-Silent
-Vibe THEN ring
-Quiet
There is NO vibe AND ring! the keyword is "AND"

Thanks for all ur help so far. But what is "seem" edit, is it like changing some of the software language/code in the cellphone? If I get the V551, could you provide me or tell me how to seem edit it to vibrate AND ring? I would appriciate it.
Thank u very much, Andrew

Seem 0032_0001
offset 7A - bit 4: Vibe and Ring 1 - on, 0 - off
After edited, it will show "vibe & ring" under ring style. It will be all silent but you can set to whatever you want!
Too bad, it won't work with my V505 but worked on my relative V551

I have tried that offset on the V600 as well. No go.
