i just bought a 6600 replacing my p800, the only reason which made me do this was that my p800 was sold ina gud price, so i bought a second hand 6000 in the same price, i am only satisfied with the colour screen and nothing else. my brother also purchased a 7610 which except for the camera didnt seem all that different, here is where the problem starts, he was able to play some .ram clips, the same clips refused to be play on my 6600, the error was i think unrecognized or somethin. then i heard 6600 plays mp3 files. well all the mp3 i try to run dont work. i dont understand wats wrong here.
at the time of purchase my brother on purpose installed caribe, which i presume was virus, he did it thinking it to be somke amazing software, i deep reset the phone and also formatted the mem card. but i dont know wats wrong rite now, i feel really bad becuz no mp3, or ram files work on my 6600.
pls tell me is there anyways i can upgrade my 6600's real player and also how to know which firmware i ahve and wat is the latest firmware r there any available in the market or a visit to nokia service centre wud be a gud idea.i have warranty remaining.

You can't update the firmware.
The phone can't play mp3s, only when install 3rd party software.

so that means i cant get it updated even from nokia service centre. and why does nokia suport mp3 ringtones wen it can play any or recognize any, why was that feature so talked bout wen it was released(truetones). btw ny solution to the real player problem. im just so frustrated t the thought of one thing running in the 7610 and not in 6600. ny updated to the real player. btw wats the best mp3 player for nokia 6600.

The best mp3 player for nokia 660 i can find on the web is the ultra mp3 player special edition for nokia6600. you can get that from the site www.lonelycatgames.com
Its a good player...

It was never said it does support them.
The newest manual only accidently says the phone can.
And you have mixed something...
Truetones are not mp3s!
mp3s can be truetones, but also .wav- and .amr-files!
The 6600 supports .wav- and .amr-files. The PC Suite of the 6600 can be set to automatically convert mp3s into supported and very small .wav-files while it is transfered to the phone.

still no word on the problem of some .ram, .rm files playing on the 7610 but not on the 6600.

ive had it wid this forum. lame old forum, nokia ppl will always remain stupid. take a look in the SE forum they they all have answers. im fed up wid buying this 6600. and no one of u cudnt answer one single question, wat will it take me to run some r.m, .ram files on a 6600, while those same files work on 7610.

haha... looks likes someone is pissed. al i can say is you should ahve checked you requirements carefull before parting with your cash. its also difficult to help answer queries with comments like "the error was i think unrecognized or somethin"

does that make it clear this comes while clicking on the mp3, also mp3 works on 7610's real player.
