To remove the faceplate for your Motorola V551, you'll need a Torx #6 screwdriver (found on eBay or hardware store...got mine at Lowe's), a pair of small tweezers or a toothpick and a small flathead screwdriver (i used my fingernail). First off, when replacing the faceplate, the battery cover is the easiest. Just take off old battery cover and then replace with new one. The front cover isn't really that difficult once you know what you're looking at. Open the phone and look around your display screen. You'll see four small round rubber seals that cover four small screws. Some people have found tweezers to be successful, but I opt for using a toothpick because I have seem more damage to the rubber seals done with tweezers. If you're not going to put them back in then don't worry about it. Using the toothpick, try and pry it in around the side of the seal and move it around the edge until the seal "pops" up. Make sure you place all small pieces in a place where you will not lose them. After you "pop" all of the seals out, use your Torx #6 screwdriver to take all four screws out. Place them aside with your seals. This is where you decide whether or not to use a screwdriver or fingernail. At the top of the phone, while it's open (near where you place your ear), you'll need to slide the screwdriver/fingernail between the existing faceplate and the housing. Once it loosens, keep sliding your fingernail/screwdriver down towards the hinge on both sides of the faceplate. Eventually, it'll pop right off. Now, take your new case and simply snap it back onto the housing of your phone. If you have a proper faceplate, it snaps right on. Now, just screw all four screws back into place and replace rubber seals if you want to. Some people opt to leave them off. Hope this little article helps!

Does anyone have a source for buying good quality replacement faceplates for V551? I like the rubberized ones, and have only seen the cheaper plastic ones for sale (like in mall). Have 3 phones, and need some different colors to tell them apart easily. Thanks in advance - Regards

Yeah 3 phones: mine, wifes, kids. I wanted all the same power cords and stuff, and with corporate discount, it was only $175 for all 3.
I have found them on ebay, but they're all the cheap ones. I'm looking for ones that are ruberized, like the blue OEM one, but in different colors.
I'm surprised Moto doesn't sell this stuff directly. I'm also surprised they don't sell swivel holders, like the one for StarTac - again, available non-OEM, but not of same quality.
