Basically, it's not compatible. O2 shouldn't even be selling this phone on their network. Main problem is recieving text messages which can take up to 3 days in my case!
Went to the O2 shop and they said i had to choose another phone as a replacement. Going for the Nokia 6230.
If anyone saw Watchdog on BBC1 last night then you'll know all about this already.

Apparently the phone isn't completely compatible with o2. The first time i noticed was when i recieved 20 txt messages at midnight and some were sent three days before! I went into uni the next day and my mate had the same problem. Apparently there's some problems with sending messgages too.
O2 announced that it only affects 1% of their k700 owners, but i know of 5 people that have had similar problems, so i think the percentage is a bit higher. Sony told O2 before that there was a problem, but o2 just started selling them anyway. They have now suspended the selling of the K700i, but i'm not sure they will actually be able to solve the problem.
When i went to the shop, they offered me either a Nokia 6230 or Sony T610, so i went for the Nokia. I realised pretty quick that this phone is shit compared to the k700 so i called up to compain. I threatened to leave the network and claim the £80 i paid for the upgrade in the first place. The girl spoke to the manager and i'm now waiting on the arrival of an S700 at no extra cost!

tangerineman - how exactly did you go about the upgrade? Which dept. did you speak to. I tried this and they shot me down, said they "couldn't work out the cost over the year" ??!! Yeah, they couldn't work out a fully functioning OS either could they
I wanna get an upgrade to the S700i, I feel its the LEAST they can do as I'm one of the 1% who has been left in the cold with a busted K700i
Not happy...

I didn't even say i wanted it for free. Called customer service, she spoke to manager and that was it. S700 for free! Superb phone, much better than that shit nokia 6230 that they originally gave me as a replacement. TBH the K700 was also much better than that. Nokia- not impressed.

Sent an email to the chief exec of O2 complaining yesterday and it looks like the wheels are in motion for my free S700i )
They couldn't have apologised more to me (unlike the helpdesk) and so far have been very professional about the matter. Like yourself I threatened to leave the network! I'm not sure if I can even do that as I am under contract but I said it anyway!
I'll let you know how it goes, but here is the email I got from the Senior Complaints Team representative yesterday...
"Thank you for your email of 8th February 2005. I am sorry for the problems you have experienced with the Sony Ericsson K700i.
Please can you forward me your mobile phone number so that I can arrange for a replacement phone to be sent to you. I understand you would like to upgrade your phone to the Sony Ericsson S700i.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely
Nicola Halstead"

Well well well - quite pleased overall on this one!
Returned home from work yesterday to find a note from DHL, drove to their depot and picked up a brand new SE S700i, free of charge from O2 themselves! After this I then recieved a call the next morning (on my new S700!) from a member of the senior complaints team offering his apologies and confirming I recieved the new phone.
Additionally, I have just recieved the following email from the Chief Exec...
"Thank you for your email of 4th February 2005.
I am sorry to hear about the difficulties you have had with your phone and can appreciate the frustration this must have caused you.
Nicola Halstead, of my Senior Customer Satisfaction Team, contacted you on 8th February 2005. She has arranged for you to receive the phone of your choice, which I hope you will enjoy.
We aim to provide a high standard of service and I am disappointed that this was not the case with your experience. Nevertheless, I hope the steps we have taken demonstrate that we are committed to customer satisfaction. If you require any further assistance please call Nicola on 0113 388 6159 or contact her by email at nicola.halstead@o2.com.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Yours sincerely,
PETER ERSKINE"
So to sum up, I have got an early upgrade (saving me £80) and they haven't even asked for the K700i back!!
Just goes to show you, if you want something done - GOT STRAIGHT TO THE TOP!
I wish everyone else the very best of luck in getting your K700i problems sorted.
