'ello all..

I am going home tonight to my new D500 but haven't a clue what im gonna be doing with it.. I currently own a Nokia 8310... Says it all really!

I've never played about with these new phones (and no im not 60yr+)

Im getting the bog standard phone/batt/charger etc.. Have u guys got any advice on what I'll be able to do with it without buying the BT dongle or usb cable ? I have a win2000 PC but hoped to at least get an mp3 from PC to phone to set as my ringtone for a start!

So any 'noobie' tips you could give me would be appreciated. Im not looking to do anything like access email or browse web. I just wanna 'tart' it up a bit.

Cheers!

p.s I've read that I'll need to download 'easy studio 2' - although I haven't even been able to find that! Im still looking thru the forums to see what help I can find.

Do you have IrDa? If not you won't be able to send anything with your phone.

Here's EasyStudio: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSit e=SFC_NL&CttFileID=219485&CDCttType=SW&ModelType=N&ModelName=SGH-D500& VPath=SW/200411/20041123133430906_EasyStudio_2.0DK2_20041116_Setup.exe

k thanks.. I've wapped a ringtone over so it's a start. I've seen a IRda stick in pc world for £12 for my PC.

Will this enable me to do everything that a BT dongle would do? (but not as fast).

txs

No, Irda can only send tones and pics, no games or mp3's or anything else.
I suggest a bt if u want a wireless transfer. wap is good only for small files and if wap is cheap for you or if u have EDGE.

phew thanks for letting me know before I went out and got one. The usb cable, can it only be purchased thru samsung? im not too keen on getting a third party one that isn't supported by easy studio. Or do they sell them in places like the link or carphonewarehouse ?

Just ask them whether it will be compatible with your phone and ask will they let you return it if it doesn't work. I'm not sure about how well third party data cables work though.

You can send .mp3 .mp4 .acc .3gp and a few more files with an IrDa adaptor. The only thing you cant send are games.
