Greetings Board
I bought a d500 the last time I visited NYC. I put in my sim card and it keeps coming up Cingular EXT. Which is fine for NYC but when i get back home it still says the same thing.
I pretty sure the phone is unlocked or it wouldnt even pick up Cingular service (right?). Does anyone know how to fix the phone so that it registers with the net work?

i recently bought a brand new phone but after about a month the phone stopped working. i took it back to shop but they tried to tell me the phone has liquid damage which i know is a lie, i think it is do with a hardware or software problem. if any one can give me some advice on how to get this phone working again it would be much appreciated.

All these code things are just ****, none of the above codes worked for me an my Orange D500. But I now have a Orange contract D500 working on a 02 pay as you go!!
Its easy to do once you spend months searching the web for the needed software.. I have everything you need to unlock, upgrade and wipe all network addons (the orange addon side menu an boot up logo).. Bellow I have posted everything I have found to help you with guides & downloads, all in one post!!
All you need is a com port data cable with battery fitting..

Here is a great firmware upgrade that makes your D500 a D500E and adds all new VOICE-DAILING an VOICE-COMMANDS and also 3 modded voice sounds for:
sms/mms messages = Voice says 'Incoming message'
low battery = Voice says 'Low battery'
alarm = Voice says mad wake up call....lol
its a MUST HAVE!!

SETTING UP YOUR D500 FOR FLASHING
============================
This is something I found out the hard way and thought I would add info for people new to flashing the D500.
Make sure you are not using up all your phones memory!! this is a MUST CHECK because the firmware upgrade needs space to flash your phone an add the defult sounds an wallpapers etc.. If you have loads of mp3's, videos and wallpapers you may have to remove them. I copied them to my pc using bluetooth then deleted them off my phone (you can always send them back after the upgrade) If you try to flash your phone and theres not enough memory the flash will fail and you will need to start over!!
Also set a delfult wallpaper, sounds an skin as after the flash your phone on first powerup will look all messed up with missing colours an images! if this does happen DONT WORRY its easy fixed just enter your menu and re-setup your wallpaper, sounds an skin. exit the menu and all should be ok again

SIMPLE HOW TO USE GUIDE

Plug your D500 data lead into COM-1 then attach your Battery & phone..
YOU MUST HAVE A VALID IMEI + BLUETOOTH ID..
TO GET THE BLUETOOTH ID TYPE : *#232337#
YOU WILL GET NUMBER THAT LOOKS LIKE: 0012 : 47 : 043A6A
NOW WITH THIS INFORMATION START UP D500 WINIMEI:
ONCE ON THE MANUAL SCREEN.
CLICK ON "CHANGE BLUETOOTH NO, A NEW WINDOW WILL POP UP.
ENTER YOUR BLUETOOTH ID : AND CLICK CONFIRM
NOW CLICK "WRT BT ID"
PROGRAM WILL SAY WAITING TO ENTER TAT MODE: WITH THE CABLE PLUGGED IN HOLD THE POWER BUTTON DOWN. PHONE WILL ENTER TAT MODE AND SOFTWARE WILL SAY: BLUETOOTH ADDRESSE GOOD!
NOW CLICK " NEW " ENTER A VALID IMEI.
SOFTWARE ALSO ASKS A FOR A PASSWORD. INCLUDED IN THE ARCHIVE IS A KEYGENARTOR. JUST COPY AND PASTE AND CLICK GENEARTE..
NOW CLICK WRT IMEI.
PROGRAM WILL SAY WAITING TO ENTER TAT MODE: WITH THE CABLE PLUGGED IN HOLD THE POWER BUTTON DOWN. PHONE WILL ENTER TAT MODE AND SOFTWARE WILL WRITE FEW MESSAGES.. AFTER A FEW MOMENTS YOU WILL BE PROMPTED TO ENTER TAT MODE AGAIN.. JUST BRIEFLY HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON, TO POWER DOWN YOUR PHONE ONCE THE PHONE IS OFF HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON AGAIN TO RE-ENTER TAT MODE. YOU WILL HAVE TO REPEAT THIS EVERYTIME THE PROGRAM IS WAITING FOR TAT MODE AND WRITTING A IME, THE PROGRAM WILL WANT TO ENTER TAT MODE AROUND 3 TIMES, SO KEEP AN EYE ON THE PROGRAM AS ITS RUNNING, IF YOUR PHONE FAILS TO ENTER TAT MODE WHEN NEEDED THEN THE PROGRAM WILL STOP! AND YOU WILL HAVE TO START OVER.
FULL PROCESS TAKES ABOUT 2 MINS. DO NOT REMOVE CABLE WHILE SOFTWARE IS WORKING AND USE A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY!
USING THE UNLOCK FEATURE IN 'IME WRITTER' WILL UNLOCK YOUR D500.. IT WORKED FOR ME AN MY NETWORK LOCKED ORANGE D500 CONTRACT PHONE, AND IS NOW RUNNING AN 02 PAY&GO.
ALSO 02 MAKES IT EASY FOR YOU TO SETUP YOUR D500 AS THEY CAN SEND NETWORK SETTING FOR WAP AN MMS FROM THERE WEBSITE STRATE TO YOUR PHONE IN 5 SEC'S!!
DNS POPUP ERROR

When I had finished with my D500 an it was fully working on 02 network, I kept getting a popup every 30min or so saying 'DNS Error'.. It turned out to be the email setting on the D500 from 02! As I never used this email funtion I removed the setting which stopped the error..
Just thought id add this for more info I had found

Hi all. My d-500 has limited service. origonaly it was t-mobile but i want to use o2.
I have firmware flasher cable (9v bat) & unlocking clip.
Ive re-flashed to unbranded firmware and used the unlock clip, yet i still get this limited service message.
Ive rang t-mobile and they want £15 pounds to alow other networks!! WOOT!!, as if the phone has not cost me enough already..
How do i fix this ?
Any help would be verry much appreciated.

Hi, I had this prob with changing from orange to o2, you need to use your data cable with bat and change your IMEI number.. If you download the IME writter from the post above then write down your IME which you can find on the back of your phone. Use this number in the IME writter.. (Note the last number of your IME will change once re-written) using the unlock feature too will unlock your D500 to any network..
NOTE:

I have read so many posts that i did not know whach path to choose.

Well I did as put, and used my own
Dont forget to use the unlock feature in the IME writter program as this is what will turn off the network lock on your D500.
Im not a 100% sure but you maybe able to use the unlock without changing your IME? I change mine anyhow so it couldn't get blocked from Orange.
Come back and let people know how you got on an if using the guides I added helped you unlock your D500..

To unlock any d500 samsung:
a) perform a total reset of the mobile
*2767*3855#
b) insert (without a sim inserted in the mobile) this codes
#7465625*638*00000000#
it will be completely unlocked and free to use any network
