I adapted settings from other PDA's to fill in the blanks for yours.... this is what I came up with
Tap Start.
Select Settings.
Tap the Connections tab.
Select the Connections icon.
Tap Add a new modem connection.
Enter a name for the connection.
From the Select a modem drop-down, select "Cellular line GPRS."
Select Next.
In the "Access point name" field, enter proxy (case sensitive) or wap.mymmode.com:8080
Select Next.
Verify the following profile settings:
Username: blank
Password: bank
Domain: 10.250.1.10 (this one I am guessing at...in a phone it would be the primary DNS)
Select Finish.
Attempt an internet connection.

Okay, I'm lost...my sister migrated from AT&T to Cingular, giving me her old v551. I'm trying to unlock it for Cingular, but I can't. I need a Subsidy Unlock Code.....can you help?

I'm an At&T customer and Iam considering migrating to blue and orange but right before they annouced their merge I purchase a Audiovox SMT5600 now they tell me those phones are discontinued and I can purchase the 2125. What other alternatives do I have, I don''t want to throw away a perfectly good phone and besides my phone isn't a year old yet. Someone mentioned unlocking the phone what is that, how do I go about doing it, is it legal and will it mess up my phone?

to unlock the phone, try contacting dealers in your area (or post in the manufacturer's forum) unlocking will allow your SMT to accept any carrier's sim. i.e. cingular. and you could use it ona cingular account.

thanks steva11, I'll try that. The cingular rep told me today when i visited the store that I would have to buy the 2125 because cingular doesn't recommend unlocking a phone it could cause the text messaging or mms not to work....have you heard anything like that happening as a result?

we have to say that we cannot gaurantee things will work because it wasn't manufactured for cingular.
all you'll need to do is input the proper settings for MMS/MEdiaNet. you can get the settings at cingular.com, or find them on the forum here. it may be a bit of a hassle depending on which carrier it was manufactured for.

when you do sign up with cingular, i'd also suggest getting the free/cheap phone and keeping it as a backup while you use the unlocked SMT5600

I am still with AT&T family plan with 4 phones. I am wondering if I can keep my AT&T plan/rate while switching to Cingular?
My plan/rate is $39 + $9 + $9 for a family plan with 4 phones.

you can switch to cingular but you will lose your plan...
Cingular has similar plans..you will get rollover
about the only concern you may have is if you have a "promo" plan (1000 minutes) that will not carry over... the reasnoable equivalent to what you have is the 49.99 shared plan... 49.99 for the first 2 and 9.99 for the others...
the 49.99 plan is for existing customers only you wont see it at the website... its 450 peak with rollover
