Hi, I hope somebody can help me out. I was an AT&T customer in WV (which went to Cingular). I then moved to OK (which went to Alltel) and added a second line. The first (primary) is the WV number, the second is an OK number. I have gotten the run around since the merger happened, letters from both providers saying I had to switch to them, etc. Finally I have it to this point: Both Alltel and Cingular will let me switch to them or cancel the contract. Alltel will not let me keep the WV number. Cingular will let me keep the number, but are making me buy a new phone and sign a new 2 year contract. Right now I am 13 months into my 2 yr contract. It is looking like I will be getting transfered back to WV in early 2006 so I really want to keep that number and if I stay I want to keep the OK number. Is there anyway to get two of the phones Cingular has listed for free and not have to sign a new contract without sinking a lot of money into new phones right now?
How can AT&T/Cingular make me purchase a new phone after I already bought one and a phone number for it? If I cancelled my contract early I would have to pay a penalty. It does not seem right, the customers are getting hosed!
Thanks for any help, advise or suggestions I haven't thought of and sorry for the long post!

call customer care and ask if the 2yr contract was signed... if not you cannot be legally held to it... it will have to be adjusted...

Have a question. I am an AT&T customer with corporate sponsorship. I would like to migrate to Cingular but they won't let me re-use my current phone: 5 month old Moto V551. The offer same new one for me to buy! All I want to do is to get 1 new phone and keep my Moto with new 2 year contract.

From the stand by screen select Menu, by pressing the left soft key.
Scroll to Settings, and select by pressing the left soft key.
Scroll to Restore factory settings, and select by pressing the left soft key.
Enter current security code and press OK.
Note: Default security code is 12345.
Performing a master reset will reset any personalized settings created. Use with caution.
