I'm here to answer any general questions, I work at AT&T (now cingular) and I get to still handle AT&T Customers! (Yay!)
I can answer general questions, but I do have a limit on what I can do (no account specific information!)
I've looked around the posts a little bit, and it seems alot of people are confused, so feel free to email me, and I'll do whatever I can to help!

Do you take questions in this forum or only by email? If you can answer this here, here's a question: do you know what this mysterious - <"**See above - SMS/txt plan changed"> - that I see in account info, online, and in phone's "Current Activity" - is about? TIA

Its probably easier to email me at ------edited-------
Tia, Did you recently make any changes to your account?
If that is the case, then your reading your usage before the bill is put out. The usage is trying to tell you that at one point in the month you were on one text messaging plan, and maybe you decided to cancel a text messaging plan, or even add a text messaging plan to your account. Your usage falls into buckets so one of the text messaging buckets (before the change) will have so many messages and another bucket (after the change) will have so many messages. Its our way of giving a heads up on the prorated billing that your about to recieve.
If you didn't make changes to your account please email me at the above address, and I would be glad to look a little further into this for you. (or even if you didn't quite understand what I was trying to say, i'd be glad to go over it again with you).
-----Please refrain from posting email address in forum. It is for your protection. -------

Thanks for response. It was finally figured out and you're absolutely right. For some unknown reason, last month, when working with CS reps via tele to repair a (big) (accidental) mistake made by another rep, a $2.99 MMS pckg was added to my acc't in the interim. I didnt add it, but since the orig, bigger error was finally sorted out I'm not touching anything or it! As they say ... in the scheme of things... - Thanks again and good luck! BTW, you seem very intuitive... a great trait to have in your biz!

Here's one. I have a V505 with AT&T. (didnt change over to Cingular). My phone always says AT&T Wireless but i turned my phone off and turned it back on about 2 days ago, ever since it says Cingular... and my voicemail has changed. i can't access my mailbox cause some Cingular lady comes on and asks me to type in my phone # and hit the * key which i do...but then the same message plays again...whats the deal?

Just a thought... maybe ur located in the particular area where AT&T Wireless and Cingular have already merged the two networks; therefore, you should be getting different service or whatever has changed...
try to manually switch back to AT&T Wireless (menu -> settings ->network -> network setup -> type -> manual, then it should ask you about wich network you want to use, select AT&T Wireless) done!......
hope that helped...

Phone Model: Motorola V220
Service Provider: Rogers At&T |

I recently signed up with Rogers (I'm in Canada) and got a V220 Motorola. I loved my phone, lost it. Bought a Nokia, got a new chip, didn't like it, so I took the phone back (kept the chip).
I bought a new unlocked Cingular from the U.S. Put my chip in and the phone works great......but, I can't download games or any of the other stuff I loved and was just learning about. What do I need to put in the settings for it to be able to browse again?
Thanks,
Leanna.

Voicemail question:
we update our voicemail deposits regularly. Call in and have them check your phone to make sure the number is programed correctly. (call from a landline of course)
in short, there is a "post office" phone number where your voicemails are sent. Your phone calls this number to deposit phone numbers, and calls another number to retrieve voicemail numbers. Usually this goes seamlessly and the customer never knows (we program the phone to forward to these numbers automatically). When a number gets changed, we send an update to the phone to correct the number, and update settings. That is why you have the new alpha display (the display) saying Cingular instead of AT&T.
When you call in, they will check your numbers. I'm almost sure this is your problem (it is a common one when we do updates to the numbers).

about the phone:
The phones are programed to particular carriers when sold by the manufacturer. The only way to know what those programing differences are is to contact the manufacturer.
