hi, could anyone with a nokia 330 please help me with my phone. About a week ago I was transferring music onto my phone when the wire came out and all music was deleted from my phone. When I went to put more music onto my phone it said it was full memory and had music on there. Now I can't connect my phone to the pc as it the wire doesn't stay in properly and has to be held in very hard and occassionally it will be identified. The phone said my memory card was malfunctioning so I formatted it and thought everything would be ok, but it is still not identified by my pc. could someone tell me what is wrong, is it memory card, lead or maybe the computer? Any advice appreciated, cheers

seems like your memory in the phone has been corrupted. might need to get the firmware re-installed....

what do you mean by getting the firmware re-installed, could I do this by myself or should I take it to a nokia shop? Would buying a new memory card solve this, because I was considering buying one with bigger memory anyway? thanks

nah, buying ne wmemory card would not fix dodgy firmware installation. you'd need to take it back to shop and ask them to do it again. buying bigger memory card is always more fun! but won't solve a firmware problem. firmware is stored in the phones internal flash memory, not the mmc card.

With all due respect, changing the firmware on the phone ain't gonna fix nuthin'!
There's two ways to fix the problem.
One:
Buy a new MMC.
Two:
The MMC has obviously gotten corrupted. If one goes through the Nokia 3300 Manual, you'll find the way to fix exactly such a problem.
Just go to Menu>Extras>Memory card>Format memory card
Choose yes at the next screen.
The MMC will be wiped clean and will be re-formatted.
Once it starts formatting the MMC, make sure that You don't do anything else with the phone until the formatting procedure completes.
Good luck,

Just open up the back of your phone. Take out the battery.
You should have two cards there. One being the SIM-Card and the other being the Mobile Memory Card. If your phone is an original first hand buy, you'll ideally have a 64MB chip there.
It will have "Nokia 3300 64 Mbyte" written on it with the NOKIA logo branded across the bottom. If it's there, the card is obviously not mission. )
Just take it out and put it back in again to make sure all the cnotacts are touching. (refer to your user manual before taking the MMC out. The MMC uses a different locking system from the SIM-Locking mechanism.
Put your battery back in and re-start your phone.
If you are still getting the error, just go to:
Menu > Extras > Memory Card > "Format memory card" option. Then, click on "Yes", blah blah follow the messages basically.
Once you have formatted your MMC, restart your Mobile phone and all will be well.
Mind you, when formatting of your phone is going on, just leave the phone be. DO NOT interfere with the process. Let it do it's formatting in it's own sweet time. No point in messing a potentially good card up now is there? )
If even this fails to work, I'm afraid, you're left with only one choice. Buy a new MMC.

Thanks so much about the tip on reformatting the memory card! I was totally distraught til I saw your clues. P.S. for anyone who doesn't know, the users' manual comes on the Nokia CD that came with your 3300 and the pre-set security code is 12345

There's an easy solution (if at all it works).
If you can get your hands on a card reader, just slip your MMC into the slot and format it through Windows.
If you don't have a card reader, you can try accessing the card through the DKU2 USB cable that came along with your phone. Once you see the drive in windows, just format it.
Once you're done, just turn your phone off, remove your card for a few seconds. 30 to 40 seconds should do the trick. Then, replace the card in the slot in the phone, replace the battery pack, and re-boot the phone.
Format it again!
If this does'nt work, I'm sorry, there's no other way I can think of.
