I have a samsung E317 with unlimited download package. I have data cable and using GPRSWizard that came with it. I found the settings and internet works great. My question is before the new year i was getting 230k connection, now i am only getting 115k connection. Did cingular change there speeds? I didnt change anything at all and speed drops by half and i know its not just a bug saying 115k cause the internet is slower now, i know cause i usualy connect to a web cam and notice a difference with the speed drop. Anyone have suggestions?

you have to remember that GPRS is not really that fast. Also, since it is handled through the cell network, singnal strength will also affect the speed, as well as how far you are from a certain tower, how many people are using the network, etc.
115 kps for GPRS is actually a rather good speed, because for the most part is it comprable to dial-up with a 56K modem.
Once cingular finally makes the jump to EDGE (which is all over europe) speeds will go up dramatically, so hopefully it will be soon. The are already selling phones that support EDGE, and there is some mention of it here and there on their website, so keep your fingers crossed.

realboy, you must realize also that cingular and ATT havent fully integrated into one network, so it might be a few months before everything is fully up and running

Couple points of clarification... First, the EDGE deployment is pretty much complete over the ATT-Cingular map - take a look at this (note it takes a while to load):
http://www.cingular.com/download/GPRS_EDGE_coverage_01_06.pdf
(note the file takes a while to load - be patient)
Many of the areas that are not EDGE are other providers that Cingular/ATT roam on (e.g., Western Wireless, Cell One, Dobson, etc.). Maybe you just need the new SIM card to fully appreciate it (?)
Cingular announced in the their merger/integration conference call in December that they plan to have WCDMA/UMTS/HSPDA (3G) complete across the entire network by EoY 2006; talk about blowing away anything else on the market... Check out slide 25 on this deck:

So, Cingular has gotten fully integrated EDGE network!!! sweet.. it would be one of the major reasons having my contract extended with Cingular after my contract with AT&T expires...
