I live in San Francisco, CA, USA. Where do you live?
When I talked to the Nokia rep. they told me that since this is a new phone they do not have a local Nokia service center that can look at the issue and that I have to send it to Florida for a repair.

i live in Croatia in Europe
is there any other way to upgrade phone beside going to service center??

They ordeal has come to an end. 2 days ago Cingular sent me a warrenty exchange from their location in Fl. Basically they only sent the core of the phone and I had to put it together myself. But this new phone has V4.43 and it has not locked up since last 5 days .... I am just a happy man now.
If any one of you out there has this issue, I most certainly can say that the issue is with V5.34. Also if you want more info you can always email me.

I am already on the 5th phone and and this release sucks. It freezes up 4-5 times a day and the only way to get out of it is to take the battery out.
Also it toggles list in address book, other lists contineously as if someone is holding down the button. To get out of this issue you have to take the battery out.
    
The 4.43 version is much better (friends have that)

im after the latest 6600 firmware , i think its 5.53, i have 5.27 already which i flashed myself from a firmware update from sedf.net, but that site has died. can anyone help ?

EH??!!  You are not supposed to upgrade firmware yourself. It is not open source material. Instead take it to the nearest Nokia store. They will do it for you.
