I have my office phone forwarded to my SMT5600. The office system is a Cisco IP Unity system. It saves voice messages as .WAV files. I get a file format unsupported message when I try to play the messages on my SMT5600. Can someone offer some more details as to what is prohibiting the playing of the message and what the solution might be?
Thanks,

My guess would be, the wav-file is compressed with an unknown codec which the phone doesn't supports.

My SMT5600 is running Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. From what I have found, Cisco Unity puts .wav files in a G.729a format. How do I get my SMT5600 to understand that?

I did a little 10 minutes research... from what I know now is, that the G.729a is a commercial codec and not freely available.
I don't know, if there is a way to get any codecs installed on the phone.
I would re-encode the file with another codec which is supported by the phone.
Can't the Cisco IP Unity system be set to use another codec?

Yes, the Cisco unity system can be changed. Is there a codec standard or one that is considered such in the wireless phone industry.

The "normal" wav codec should work, but is big.
Most smartphones do support the IMA ADPCM codec as well.
