I know a lot of things have been said and read about this problem but thought would still be worthwhile getting some views from experts...
I have a Nokia 6600 and have recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 510m laptop with integrated bluetooth (called Dell TrueMobile - WIDDCOM type device) functionality. The OS is Windows XP SP2 (home editiion).
I tried connecting the phone with the PC for synchronisation through PC suite but nothing happens...
I've tried almost everything available from all the posts on various sites like
a. Installing the latest PC suite software for 6600 downloaded from the Nokia website
b. Creating new serial ports (ignoring the already existing ones) on the Bluetooth - Advanced Configuration options)
c. The registry change as recommended by Microsoft for the Bluetooth device
d. Disabling the Windows Firewall functionality
e. Disabling the McAfee Firewall functionality
f. Pairing the two devices (and also establishing a TRUST connection)
g. Installing the Nokia PC suite on the same drive as the Windows folder i.e. on C: but in the default application path...
h. Contacting the Nokia support desk who had no clue what could be the issue
i. Contacting Windows support, who could only point me to the registry change required, which was already done !
but NO LUCK !
I can get as far as the point where the mRouter icon changes to indicate that the two devices have been "Connected"...not beyond that.
The "Connection Manager" does not recognise the phone. On the mRouter, when I select the "Change Device" or the "Connect to a Bluetooth Device" option, the phone does not show in the list.
Subsequently, on starting the PC Suite, the Nokia connection manager still indicates that no phone has been connected and therefore I cannot progress further.
Any ideas where the problems could be? Am really getting frustrated with this problem...

Did you've configured the mRouter to use the correct ports? You should normally be able to use the ones Windows creates when you use the connection manager of Windows for doing so.

Yes, I had configured the mRouter to use the correct ports.
As I had said before, the mRouter was able to Connect to the phone from the PC but somehow this connection was not being recognised by the Nokia Connection Manager or the Nokia PC Suite itself.
However, I tried using mRouter 3 BETA yesterday and was eventually able to connect successfully through Nokia PC Suite as well. I was also able to backup the entire data to my PC from the phone.
Thanks a lot for your reply...
Cheers,

Hmm... I've overlooked the NCM... are you trying to use the PC Suite 6.4? Won't work. The 6600 needs its own PC Suite, not the normal one.

I am using the latest version of the Nokia PC suite specifically designed for the 6600 which I downloaded from the Nokia website.
I can now synchronise the information between the phone and the PC but am now facing a peculiar problem.
A few contacts on my mobile have more than one numbers of the same type i.e. TWO mobile numbers or two office numbers.
When I synchronise the contacts between the phone and the PC, only one of the numbers is transferred to the PC.
Any way that I can get around this?
Thanks in advance for replies

Well, I never synchronized in this direction because I began very soon using Outlook to manage my contacts and only synchronize PC to phone.

Another problem...
I don't know when they are going to end.
One I am done with the connection for transferring the files using Nokia PC Suite and mRouter 3 Beta, when I disconnect the mRouter application, the bluetooth driver on my computer does not respond to any changes and still thinks that the bluetooth connection is still ON. Even if I switch off the bluetooth from my Nokia phone, the computer still shows as connected.
The only way I can turn that off is by Terminating the application on the computer. Is there a better way of doing this?
Am I missing something here?

Well, you're using a Beta version of the mRouter... this could couse trouble.
As the word "Beta" says... it's not the final version of it and still might have some bugs.

I have tried all instruction available at :http://homepage.mac.com/mark.allerton/archives/000047.html
But Still, I am not able to connect PC suite to Bluetooth.
Can you please tell me, what other instruction you have followed , which made you reach to this point.
I have spent almost 1 day on Nokia 6600 with Dell pc.
Any Input is appreciated.

Hi Nilesh,
You will definitely find your way through if you use the mRouter3 beta software.
Remember that you will still need to have the Nokia Phone Connection Manager and mRouter still running, in addition to this one.
Also, thought it would be just worth asking whether you have d/loaded the latest PC Suite software downloaded from the Nokia website.
You also might need to carry out the registry change required by Microsoft for the Bluetooth changes to work. All of these can be found on google...sorry, I had the links before but somehow have lost track of them...
Hope you get through.
