Has anyone had trouble with t-mo usa and the d500?. If so, I am wondering how you got past the welcome screen?!!
I bought a D500 on ebay and the phone will not come up. It recognizes that a sim card is installed but that's it; doesn't get past, welcome to t-mobile...
I brought it to a t-mobile service center and they had the same problem with 2 of their sim cards.
Any ideas?
btw - the phone came all the way up with an old voice stream sim that was deactivated??

Since you bought it on ebay it is possible that your phone is locked to a certain european network. See if it says for example "ORANGE" on the back. I bought my phone in the store in US and it works fine so far, except for the t-zones. But T-mobile says that I have to wait for a few days for my new service to kick in in order for it to work. If your phone indeed is locked you can google some unlocking codes and tricks online, see if you can find anything useful - there's lots of stuff out there. Hope it's been helpful.

I'm a U.S. resident considering to buy the Samsung D500 with T-mobile service. After reading various problems with this unit in the U.S. I am a little discouraged. I travel the world and would still like to use the D500 unless someone strongly recommends against it. Are there any satisfied U.S. residents with the D500? Also, are you able to use all the features this unit has to offer in the U.S.?

Mine seems to be working fine, and I love it! I bought mine in some Asian mobile store; I assume it's already unlocked. The only problem I had was with the T-Zones but later found the solution from another thread.
| Quote: | Proxy Settings
1) Go to your browser settings on the main menu
2) Select "Settings"
3) Adjust the settings of one of the given preset programs to the following:
Profile name: T-Zones (that's mine, you can name yours whatever)
Home URL: http://wap.myvoicestream.com
Bearer: GPRS only
Proxy: Enable
then select the GPRS settings tab
IP address: 216.155.165.50
Port: 8080
APN: wap.voicestream.com
Login/Password: LEAVE BLANK
MMS Settings
1) Go to your messages setting on the main menu
2) Select "Multimedia Messages"
3) Select "Settings"
4) Select "MMS profiles"
5) Select "Profile Settings"
6) Select one of the preset settings and adjust to the following:
Profile name: MMS (again you can choose your own)
Server URL: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Proxy: Enable
Version: 1.2 (295 kb)
--then select the GPRS settings tab
IP address: 216.155.165.50
Port: 8080

Hope this helps.
