So I just switched form Sprint PCS to Cingualr. I bought a Nokia 3120 and love it. With my new phone, I started receiving calls and making calls and texting my friends and....wait, I’m not getting any texts back. Here is the problem, my friends text me and I don’t get the messages. Two are on ATT/Cingular, one is with Verizon. I’m able to text myself, I can text myself from the Cingular website. When I called Cingular help, they were able to send me text messages, but one of their text support guys sent me a message from his phone and it did not work. They say they are looking into the problem, but I’m worried that they won’t be able to solve this within my 3 day, complete refund, trial period and I want to return the phone. Has anybody ever had this problem? Did it ever get solved? Thanks for reading.

Try adding the 1 and area code aswell. 1xxx-xxx-xxxx
Yeah, and if that doesn't work, try putting the whole number, i mean your friends should try it.(+1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx) cuz gsm using +1 numbers here in US...

Hello all. I'm in the same situation. I got my Cingular phone yesterday and I have been able to send and recieve text messages from my buddy on T mobile (one time) and after that, nothing. My friends can get text from me, but I can't seem to get any text back from them. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Any and all help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Nick

Update on my problem:
After about a day and a half with my phone, I started receiving texts from my friends. It seems like there is some lag time from when you first activate/port your number until when texts can "find" you. I don't know. However, my phone is still not receiving some texts. My buddy sitting right next to me tried texting my phone and I still didn't get it. After telling him, he then tried the whole enter 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx trick and that actually worked. Crazy. I still don't know what to think.
Thanks for all your help.
