I have the blue original VX 7000...
I used to have a Kyocera phone and it had the SWEETEST feature!!
It had a ring setting that would make the FIRST TWO rings, vibrations and every ring thereafter, normal AUDIBLE rings. (whatever your ringtone was).
It was the SWEETEST setting!
I NEVER NEVER EVER missed a call.
If it was in my pocket, I would feel the 1st vibrate, and I didn't bother anyone...
If it was out of my pocket, and I missed the two vibrates (didnt hear it rattling on the counter lets say...) I would HEAR the 3rd, 4th and subsequent rings!
I wish Verizon would follow suit!!
My daily routine is, turn ON vibrate only at work, then after work, turn the rings ON. But I generally forget to turn the rings ON after work and I miss a bunch of calls for the rest of the evening unless I hear it vibrating on the counter. I miss SO many calls. It sucks!
I am now forced (since I'm too dumb to remember to keep switching back and forth), I'm forced to keep my ringer ON all day long and become an annoying cell phone ring jerk!
I wonder if LG would and may or might add a feature like my old Kyocera had.

That's too bad.
I wonder if something like that could be added later.

I just purchased a VX6100 from Verizon and was also disappointed that it did not have Vibrate THEN Ring, only Vibrate AND Ring. So I reasoned that if I modified a MIDI ring tone sequence to delay audio for 5 seconds at the begining of the sequence that I could use that ring tone with the Vibrate AND Ring option to effectively give me Vibrate THEN Ring. It Works!
Here's what you need to do:
Buy a data cable for your cell phone and phone management software to allow you to download and upload information and ring tones between your PC and your cell phone. BitPIM is freeware you can download from the web. Acquire a MIDI editor such as MIDI Maestro. Their trial version works fine. Acquire a MIDI sequence (.mid file) or download a ring tone from your cell phone to your PC, but note that purchased ring tones through Get-It-Now can't be modified. Load the .mid file into the MIDI editor and insert a few measures with no notes at the beginning of the tone. Save the modified ring tone and upload it back to your cell phone. Then select that ring tone and raise the ring volume to Vibrate AND Ring. The delayed start of the audio in the ring tone will in effect give you Vibrate THEN Ring.
I've also lobbied Verizon and LG to add standard ring tones with delayed audio to provide Vibrate THEN Ring functionality in their next software update. Hopefully, they will comply for the benefit of customers who miss the feature.
I hope this helped.

Funny you mentioned MIDI Maestro - I just recently bought it - great software. If any person on this forum decides to buy it rather than use trial version - check with Froogle, Deprice, PriceGrabber and Shopping.Com first
becaus it's expensive (as in fifty bucks).
Got my copy at 10% off

You might want to look at eBay, too

Great tip Midiguy!
If you are technologically inept (like me) you can make your own ring tone instead. On my VX3300 you can record a voice memo and then under "options" select "set as" and you can set it as your ringtone. I am not sure if the VX7000 has this option but I would suspect that if the barebones VX3300 has this feature the VX7000 should too.
