I have the camera for the 6610 and while it can be useful sometimes most of the time I don't take it with me.
The quality when emailed to a computer is a 640x480 pic of reasonable quality considering the size of the camera. However on your mobile phone it is pretty average, enough to give you detail but only to personalise your phone rather than being informative. The problem I find with the camera is that you have to take the pic in a brightly lit area. If the lighting levels are too low the pictures don't turn out but the camera will prevent you taking the pic if it is too low.
Whether you buy a digital camera or the phone's camera will depend on what you want out of the camera. If you want a camera that you can personalise your phone with then buy the phone camera but if you want a camera that you can get good quality pictures that you can keep or send to people then buy a proper camera. One thing to remember though is that with the phone camera you will only be able to store a few pics at a time especially if you fill your phone with games or ringtones, that and you will either have to email them to yourself or transfer via cable or IR so don't forget to think about that.
I only got the camera as I got it for free from where I work when I took advantage of a deal we were doing. Had I not got it then I would probably have not bought it.

Don't forget that you can always install pics on your phone that you have taken with a digital camera. All you need to do is resize the image on your PC and drop the colour depth to 8 bit. Then you can install it. I couldn't say what I would go for as I already have both the phone camera and a good digital camera. I hope whatever you do you are happy.
