Need help with getting MTP setup with MPX 220. I purchased the MTP software to create ringtones etc for my new MPX 220. I have installed the software according to instructions as well as looking at past postings, however; software will not recognize the phone. generic phone pops up after a bit and no communication with phone. I have uninstalled, re-installed, power cycled phone, tryed to install mot modem files with no luck. MTP software is vers 3.11h - have tried to update and S/W says it is current vers and no updates available.
Many frustrating hours so far..... Please help.
Thanks

There is a newer version than that. Have you tried the manual update? You should have v3.17e I think when it's updated. Do you have the correct driver loaded for the phone? I think the problem may be that MPT is not compatable with the MPx220, it uses Microsoft Active Sync to communicate with the PC. That app comes with the phone. I havent' been able to use MPT as yet for this phone, it's mainly meant for the regular phones, not the smartphone. I would think they will eventually make a working MPT for it, but not sure. If you notice, the driver for the MPx220 shows up as a USB device, NOT a modem like all the other phones do. Doesnt' use a com port to communicate like the others either. Have you tried using mp3's for ringtones yet?........
Good Luck

On second thought, I think I remember that 3.19 is the recent version of MPT.

I have not tried mp3s yet - and yes you are right the phone shows up as a USB device not a modem. I have tried to disable the usb dev and set up as a modem along with disabling the active sync. No luck. I have not been able to download a newer version of MTP - even manually. I just purchased MTP yesterday from the website posted in one of your threads... and it says it is the current version.
Still no luck getting MTP to work....
If anyone has used mp3s -
how did you xfer them to the phone?

Ok guys open your MPT with fone plug in. It's won'r work but that's ok. Hit cancel and few second a generic fon picture will pop up on your desk top, now click on the menu icon of that fone picture ( the top midle with 3 bars) there should be a drop down choose setup you should see live update click that update to latest verson 3.19e . Ifyou already have the 3.19e now there is a general setup F6 click on that , choose comunication tap---modem exchange--wizard of install new modem... choose " don't detect my modem i'll choose it from list"---Now on your left find motorola GSM on you right find you fone model click on that --ok --finish. Re run MPT it's should work now it'better work it's have to work . DGood luck

I just tried this again with no luck. When the generic phone pops up and I hit menu - setup - update - it says downloads complete and hit next - I hit next and it immediatly says that my product is up to date and no additional updates are available at this time and the help about screen says it is version 3.11h. ???? can't figure it?
I have been able to xfer a full 3.9M mp3 to the phone via USB cable and assign it to be a ringer though....

No MTP will not talk to my phone. I have only copied mp3s directly to the phone by dragging and dropping in my computer then assigning them as ring tones....
I still need to get MTP working..... ?puzzled?

Does not work, I've been through this several times..... My phone is not listed in the phone selection when I set it up as a GSM on the left and when I go to my computer it (my phone) shows up as a USB device instead of a modem. I can'not find a driver for the MPX220 which sets it up as a com port modem instead of a USB device.
