There have been several questions, concerns, and comments from newbies who want to upgrade their Motorola phone but are afraid for the worst.
I have created this thread for anyone who has upgraded their phone(s) with a new firmware.
__________________________________________
Good or bad experiences, we want to hear about it.
Please provide any information about your experience while upgrading to a new firmware for your Motorola phone. Include the following:

Model of phone?
What flash/flex files used?
What features have you gained?
What features have you lost?
Was there any bugs after the ugrade?
Overall experience flashing for the first time.
Any tips, advices, for potential flashers.

These are just some random questions off the top of my head. If you have any others, feel free to add to your experience.
Thank for your time. I am sure the readers will be greatful.

I just flashed my v400, I used flash : TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.45R_reflash and flex : GI9V600000AA0E9 , so far after just briefly browsing, I noticed i now have VIDEO PLAYBACK!!! and there seems to be some engineering options i know nothing about...lol...also seems to have some sort o f IM service...also aim and something called mobile qq with a little penguin that needs to be setup...again...i know nothing about...I never use to roam at my current location...my service provider is cingular, and now it's roaming and says at&t wireless...hope my bill doesn't go up!!! oh that reminds me, it still says cingular on the front when u open the phone, i thought upgrading the flash/flex would remove that. and now it says gprs under cingular, it didn't do that b4. Overall it looks like the phone is working fine...from what i can see..the only thing i've lost are my java games icon_cry.gif This was my first time flashing..I read this and other forums for 3 days doing research and dl apps and files that were needed. I'd have to say overall it was cool to do. I'm glad I did it, and now i guess it's another adventure to figure out how to use the new stuff. thanks for the help duceduc! if anyone has had experience using these flash/flex files and knows about the new features, please pm me with some info so i can get the most out of it. I'll be doing more research about it myself, but meanwhile any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks again.

jiggygent:

All those little minor issues you have listed can be corrected through seem editing.

Items needed:
p2kman (to upload seem files)
motorola tool
0032_0001 seem from phone

or if you really want to learn seem editing:
xlr8
xvi32 (hex edit tool)
Most of the codes are located under SEEM 0032_0001

Good Luck!

Model of phone? Motorola V600
What flash/flex files used? Triplets_G_0B.09.45R Reflash & SE8605AXXU504D Flex
What features have you gained? Faster Menu response, camera seems better, 7.3MB of space
What features have you lost? Integrated AOL (have IM though), all default ring tones, wallpapers, movies, funlights
Was there any bugs after the ugrade? Camera froze when you press capture, kicked out of ring styles menu when you click on xxx detail were the only 2 I had that really bothered me.
Overall experience flashing for the first time. Glad that I did it as this was the first time I ever flashed a motorola phone. (lots of experience with samsung
Any tips, advices, for potential flashers. Read up as much as you can about the how to flashing and flexing before you start doing it can never be too prepared especially if it save you killing your phone. If you have questions ask them before you kill your phone.

Phone: Moto V600
What flash/flex files used: TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.4FR Reflash & SE8605AXXU504D Flex
What features have you gained: Faster Menu Response, Better RF Reception, More Storage (around 7 meg), Camera is smoother
What features have you lost: Factory Ringtones and Graphics, Funlighs (which can be fixed through some seem editing, thanks duceduc for the fix), ringstyle settings (which can also be fixed easily).
Was there any bugs after the ugrade: Camera froze when trying to take a picture with a shutter tone selected, Editing the ringstyles kicks you back to the home screen.
Overall experience flashing for the first time: Like xxXSamsungXxx said glad I did it. It's a little nerve racking waiting for the status complete to reach 100% and say flash/flex successful, but exciting at the same time.
Any tips, advices, for potential flashers: Read alot!!!!!!! Can't emphasize that enough. Take time to understand what you are doing and how to do it. After flash/flex, there are going to be somethings that possibly won't work on your phone, don't fret most problems can be fixed through a little bit of seem editing. I was able to get everything working on my phone that I lost through editing and by reading the advice given by guys like duceduc, old fool and others that really know what they are talking about. If you find yourself in a pickle don't be afraid to ask questions. Give flash/flexing a try!!!!

Thanks a lot.... icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif
