i'm new to this forum and data transfer so some help is needed. i have a new z500a phone and the sonyericsson synch software from the web.
win xp recognizes the com port 4 as the phone, the se software sees the phone, but when i try to access the phone memory i get a message "unable to connect" and the program shuts down. it then won't recognize my phone until i reboot the computer or turn off the phone and turn it on again.
am i missing something? all i want to do is move pictures and ringtones from phone to pc. is there other software i can try than the sonyericsson synch software (that is free)?

I've run into the same thing. I got my data cable from factorydirectcellular and installed it according to the directions. My system recognized the data cable with no problem. However, I've tried the Sony applications and the Floats suggested here, and nothing seems to see my phone.. I'm trying to figure out now if I'm just missing the obvious and doing something really stupid or if maybe the cable is bad or just crap..
I usually have decent luck with stuff from factorydirectcellular, but I haven't been too happy with this cable. There was almost no documentation at all. Either this is supposed to be idiot proof or it is very poorly packaged..
I've read on here where others have recommended their cables, so maybe I'm just having bad luck.

I just installed the USB Cable DCU-11 but my pc is not finding the driver.
I have windows XP.
Can someone help me find the driver for this cable that WORKS?
if you want universal cables and softward to back up your cell phone, or transfer info try datapilot. www.datapilot.com it works great and works with any phone or carrier.
