hello peeps,
With the generous help of several of this site's visitors, I finally figured out how to load ringtones on to my v400 using mobile phone tools and a usb cable. Since then, I have upgraded my computer. I went from a bottom of the line hewlett packard i bought 3 years ago, to a top notch hewlett packard with the media center package.
Since changing computers, i haven't been able to load mobile phone tools up. It acts like its going to load up, but at the end of the setup process, it gives me an error message that reads like so....
Unhandled Exception
Error Number: 0x80040707
Description: DLL function call crashed: PbkInstall._GetBookNames
Setup will now terminate.
Then another window pops up saying:
Internal Failure
Error Number: 0x80040707
Can anyone shed some light on my current dilemna?? If not, is there another program that will let me communicate with my phone? Would webjal work??
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Wow that is quite the dilemma. Well first off ensure that the phone is not connected to the computer. And double check to ensure that no programs are running in the background. If it did leave anything from install delete it. I would say reboot the computer after deleting anything it left, even if it didn't then restarting will keep all closed. Then re-install and once again make sure the phones not connected to the computer. If this doesn't help then for the moment I'm at a loss. Goodluck hope it comes out.

I've had absolutely no luck whatsoever. I even went through the painstaking process of running a destructive system recovery on my computer. Still no luck. I'm not sure...but i think it has something to do with the google desktop search i installed. I tried uninstalling it, but that didn't work. So then i did the destructive system recovery just in case it was still embedded in my hard drive somewhere. But still no luck.
Is it possible that i still have google file fragments even though i did the recovery?? or would i have to reformat my hard drive altogether(which is more trouble than its worth)
i'm puzzled to say the least.

I very seriously doubt it has anything to do with the Google product, but I'm not going to swear to it. Windows has enough problems as it is though, and I would say if you have SP2 that may cause problems. Being a computer technician, I've seen tons of problems caused by SP2. I don't install it when setting up computers, I just install the critical updates from sp2. They will have to tie me down before I will allow it to be put on my computer. I've never had a problem installing MPT, but it may have to be updated to 3.19e1 before it will work properly with the phone. As long as the proper driver is loaded for the phone, you should have no problems. Good Luck.

google desktop has caused problems with other applications. it has something to do with the indexing function...i think. As for sp2...i don't like it either, but it came installed on my computer. if there's a way to remove it, please enlighten me.
and i can't update mpt because it won't install at all. like i said before...i've installed and used mpt before, just not on this new computer.
anywayz
thanx for the suggestions

LoL how often can you say you've ran into a corrupt D/L or install? Its not that uncommon so listen to Old_Fool and try to wipe the slate and try again.
