I searched for the answer to this but can't find it.
I edited an MP3 using Audacity (32bit, 120kb file size, 15 seconds long) and downloaded it to the Audio folder on my V551 using Bluetooth. The downloaded MP3 appears in my ringtone list, but when I try to select it the phone tells me that it is corrupted and asks me to delete it. The MP3 file itself plays fine on my computer.
I read on other threads that people are using Motorola Phone Tools to download to their phones, so I'm guessing that the phone wants to see some extra encoding that Audacity doesn't supply.
When I checked the Motorola website for their software (I'll pay for it if it works) I didn't see any mention of OS X versions.
Has anyone here successfully downloaded and used MP3s on a V551 from an Apple computer? I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Doire

I think it's the mp3 that wrong some how. I use cd ripper to get my song to mp3 then form there i use audacity to cut it down to 25 second long, at 32 floating bit, 128kb, mono and that work every time. If you need to email me for my clip and try it to see if it work or not cause if it work then it's not the OS that give you problem

Thanks; I just emailed you.
If I can try your sample and it works, I'll know to get a different MP3 editor. If yours doesn't work either, I'll suspect the phone.

Interesting.
The good news is that your file worked. The bad news is that I need to locate some program other than Audacity to create my mp3s, since my Audacity files won't work.
Thanks for your help, Old Fool.

OK, I've solved my problem.
I was following the tutorial on how to create an MP3 ring tone. That was my mistake. I was resampling the MP3 and mucking about between Wav and mp3 formats (following the tutorial to the letter).
Now it's working because I am not resampling the mp3 at all. I open it in Audacity, strip it down to 15 seconds or so, filter out all sub-150Hz frequencies, and then export what's left as mp3 again.
No conversion to wav, and no resampling. Now the V551 plays them just fine.
Thanks for the help.

Everything works fine, but how do I get the file size down to 128kb like everyone keeps saying?
Forgive me, I'm new to all this.
