Hi
I have a samsung x426 ver 1.6 that I bought on ebay that was supposed to be unlocked, but it wasn't. so I tried to flash it with opt 3.6 and now it won't turn on. I have tried flashing it again, several times and still nothing. Did I totally ruin the phone or is there hope? Thanks for your help!

i hope you backed up the firmware before flashing. that way you can at least flash back to the beginning. what was the firmware you flashed with? did any errors come up during flashing? did you remove battery after flashing, then place battery back and then start up? i know certain models of samsung required holding the power button down longer to boot up the first time.

I have had several errors come up when I flashed it. "too many retries" or it asked me to hit on/off button and I can't so it won't continue. It also said after it has gone through the whole flash "All is Well". But still nothing. I used opt 3.6 and 4.14 x42x.sre I will try holding the power button done longer. I was told to try x710.sre, but this still did nothing.

have you tried using the firmware and flashing from here?
http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic4919.html
i think the x710.sre is for the e710. i'd use optiflash 4.12 first, then try 3.7. i think you were using the correct sre file (x42x.sre). the firmware for the x426 on the link i provided is the most current one i could find. try that and see what happens.
did you backup the firmware before flashing?

I tried again with the firmware x42x.sre, when it said hit on/off button, it still wouldn't do it, so I took out the battery for 5 seconds put and back in and hit on/off button and whammo it started flashing. Took 30 and after it got to 99% it said error. But I disconnected the cable and took out the battery for 10 seconds and it turned on and works great! Thanks for your help. Hope this thread can help someelse out there who thought they might have just aquired a $100 paperweight.

Ok, I've been dealing with this for a month, off and on.
Let's start with this: I'm a noob. I don't claim to know anything other than what I've found here (and other sites).
At any rate, I have a X426. V 1.6 firmware. Tried the code, got the "Return for service error" AT&T replaced the phone.
Tried to run Cereberos using a USB Cable. Set the COM port correctly. System is XP. Nothing.
Ran Optiflash using the .sr file for my phone. Toasted it. It will not turn on. After some research, I did the remove battery thing. Nothing.
SO, I have rerun Optiflash 3.6. When it gets to Hit On/Off, I disconnect the cable, remove the battery for 10 sec, replace, reconnect, and the software does its thing. I get a Finished Job message. STILL, the stupid thing will not turn on.
To answer another question that I will get: I did not back up the firmware. Sorry, did not know I had to until after catastrophe.
I'm at a loss. Sorry for the acid in my tone, but this is getting to be just a sign of bad karma or something.
Anyone have any ideas?
Not to make this missive any longer, the reason I want this phone unlocked is the fact that the company I work for gave me a Cingular Blackberry. The kicker is that I'm not on the data set: no email. What's the use? I get to carry around a large belt buckle for a phone? No thanks. I wanted to use the sim out of the blackberry in my X426.
Nothing is ever simple.

hey DA AX,
i read your post there but still unsure what version firmware you have. v 1.6 is part of the version its the first of of that we need to further diagnose your issue. for example, x426 firmware would read something like this --> X46UEDC1 v 1.6
now if you have something different from that click the link below to download the firmware and go to the previous link to find the instructions and get the flasher app. i would suggest trying optiflash 4.12, then go 3.7 and so on until you get it working. be aware sometimes you may have to hold the power button down longer than normal. it's been the case for me several times after flashing.

Sorry chief, not for sale. Not mine to give.
X46UEDC1 v 1.6 is what I have. I'll try a different version of Optiflash.
