The ring happens as a warning signal becuase ringtones and voice use the same speaker. Sony did it to cover their backs so no one sues them for ear damage (it says in the manual that it's a warning noise). The little fade in bit sucks though.
Search for a copy of Mobile Phone Monitor (can get from ericsson site) and a copy of Sendfile...I forget the address.

I have an interesting Question, that is I have a T610 from Hong Kong as I have been working their for 6 months. As I have now returned to Australia I have a HCB-30 car kit which I cennot use due to Bluetooth static from the T610. I have gone to a service centre and they day that the phone requires a firmware upgrade but a somewhat unwilling to do it as it comes from Hong Kong. They are saying that the Australian Firmware is different to the Hong Kong version. I have checked the firmware on the phone and I have R1A081, I believe that the latest version is R1L. I have found out that R1A is also in Australia therefore I believe that there should be no problem with the upgrade. Has anyone had this problem and has anyone had their phone upgraded away from the original place country of purchase.

to send files to mobile you need Mobile Monitor from sony
and you also need a program to send the files
page is under reconstruction but you can still download the programs if you follow the correct links.
He's got a few nice programs up normally, even nicer when the full list is up.

I would get my firmware upgraded but I don't want the hassle of backing up all my data and ringtones e.t.c.

I just bought mine today at a mall dealer in Austin, TX. I'd assume it has fairly up to date firmware, but would like to be sure.
R1S001 prgxxxx
.. is the first number in the software version screen on mine.
I have service through TMobile. The only problems I've noticed so far are a couple dropped calls, and the IrDa link is sometimes hard to get started to sync it with my Outlook and Lotus Notes calendar. I'm using XTNDConnect PC to sync.
I just want to get the most from this little phone. Suggestions appreciated!
