same way like in the t-three-double'o and t-three-ten :]
go to standby screen
joystick right
press *
joystick left
joystick left
press *
joystick left
press *
Service Info -> SW information
look at the last three letters.

thanks for teh reply.. still lost here..
In standby is it the mode where the phone is on clock mode?
Tried the instruction given but see nothing - just message to press * to unlock phone.
Do I need to disable phone lock?

Hey =)
Figured it out yet?  Standby is just the screen which shows your background wallpaper, time, signal & battery etc. Well I've used those instructions from there and it worked  Oh yes and it would be a good idea to disable phone lock

I have a ton of numbers there. But the fery last numbers (following the example numbers on this thread) is R10A. It would be good to know, however, how to upgrade the firmware. Anyone?

Simple, go to SE Certified center and ask them.
Bring the warranty with you and it will be free otherwise they might charge you a bit.
R1L is the last version and they just got it in Vietnam so I'm going there in about an hour.

I got my new T610 only a few days ago.
Its running R1A081 which is old, from what i gather?
How can i get my software upgraded? You say go to a SE service centre, but i checked my white pages and there isn't any in my city  I live in Adelaide, Australia.
Can't i just update the firmware on my phone myself somehow?

The number you should look for is the firstnumber and it look something like this;
R1L prgCXC125568_EU4
R1L prgCXC125562_TAE
The bold numbers are you software and the should be the same.
BTW R1L is the latest released one.
