Hi guys!!
I currently use a Siemens A56 with Fido service SIM card. I recently was given a Samsung V200 by my dad from London UK. I live in Toronto Canada. His service was with T-Mobile. Before unlocking the phone it would say with my FIDO SIM card on it, "Insert valid SIM card". Once unlocked, when I turn on the phone, it says WELCOME to FIDO (good), then the phone tries to find the network service but it's unable to. It says, "NO SERVICE".
What is wrong? Can anyone help me or give me any advice?
Thank you so much.
Jimmy.

have you tried changing the 'band selection' under 'network settings'? fido might be using a different freq. from t-mo. i know t-mo uses 1900, fido might be using 900. try that and see what happens.

Thanks!
Well I checked www.gsmworld.com It says T-mobile uses 1800 and Fido 1900. How do I change the frequency used on my cell phone then? Samsung v200, is that possible too? Thx for your help. Much appreciated.

are you sure that t-mo is 1800? in the states it's 1900 for sure. otherwise my s100, s200 and e715 shouldn't be working. where are you located at?

hi again, T-Mobile uses 1800 in the United Kingdom (London), that's were my father lives and that's where the v200 comes from. I think it uses 1900 in USA though.
I'll try to switch the frequency tonight, I hoping that it will work. Thx.

ok, then we were both correct...hehe...i searched on gsmworld.com and i couldn't find Fido in UK. i found Fido in Canada and they use 1900 there. so if the v200 you have uses only 900/1800 then it's not gonna work.
but...good news! i checked on this site:
http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/phones/mobile-phones/146200/details
it states that the sgh-v200 is a tri-band (900/1800/1900) so you can go to 'Network Settings' > 'Band Selection' > select '1900'
give that a try...
