I'd like to compare notes with other 6100 users. My wife & I got new 6100's a month ago. After the initial full charge and reasonable use (playing with camera, setting up contacts, options, etc) we got 3-4 days until the batt indicator went down a bar or two. Then after 4 days, it ramped down a bit faster until one bar, and then we would recharge it.

Then with every subsequent charge the battery would have a much shorter life. After 3-4 weeks we would fall to half power EIGHT HOURS after a full overnight charge.

At that point Verizon replaced the phones (side note: VZ tranferred JUST contacts, lost all pix, settings, groups & a Get It Now game). The first charge held for a few days of minimum use. Then two nights ago I did a full charge. It was at half power by yesterday evening. I charged it again last night, it's now down one bar after minimal use.

Anyone else going through this?

And this Friday morning I wake up to find the battery is - d e a d -. That's after a full charge Wednesday night, and very little use on Thursday.

Anyone else having these types of ongoing battery problems?

Thanks!

I can run through a battery in a day most of the time. But I was sick earlier this week and didnt use my phone at all. The battery lasted three days and was on 24/7.

A couple things can effect battery use. If the phone is in analog that will suck juice super fast. I was in an analog service only area and the battery lasted about a day. Second, does the backlight go off when you close the phone? If it stays on, the phone is stuck in battery test mode, which leaves the backlight on till the battery dies.

Those are my best guesses other then you got another bum phone.

Thanks Duckie. I had checked the screen backlight before, and it does power down. I was even running the bakclight at 30% to save juice.

I'll check on the analog settting when I go pick it up from VZ right now - I dropped it off with them during lunch.

The VZ tech says he has to recharge his 6100 every other night. But I rarely use mine, and would consider needing to charge it that often as either faulty goods or fraud, seeing that VZ/LG claim 6.25 days of standby time in their ads.

Granted, that's "optimal conditions", but heck, sitting unused in a jacket pocket and maybe 3-4 short calls a day is not too far from optimal.

Thanks again for the hints.

you dont want to charge your battery for more then 3-4 hours at a time, that should be all the time it needs to return to a full charge from being dead. You can damage the battery by overcharging it (ie, leaving it on the charger overnight while you sleep). I put mine on the charger before dinner and take it off before bed.

Yes, 3-4 hours chould give a full charge, but by design Li-Ion batteries can't be overcharged. They have built in circuitry to prevent overcharging.

And it's good that they do - if Li-Ion batteries are overcharged, they can burst into flame. So manufacturers tend to design non-incendiary batteries.

>> Continuation of my VZ/VX saga: VZ gave me a third new phone on Friday. I charged it (overnight - sorry) and it's run for four days now (with next to no use). It's finally gone down one bar.

I had the same problem with my 6100; I had it replaced once, and the battery twice. After the initial full charge, I would rarely get more than a day of use no matter how I utilized the phone. I had not heard about the battery test mode before, but I recall the main screen would power off when closed, but I could always see a faint visual of the time/date on the front screen. Is that normal?

I finally replaced it with the 7000 which so far seems to be more than satisfactory.

jinnii,

What's that battery test mode you mentioned?

BTW the last swap of my phone was the charm. I get 4-5 days use with no problem now.

Hi Nicco,

My reference to the battery test is from an earlier post to this thread which I will reference below...

In an earlier post, Duckie wrote:

I got tired of fussing with the 6100, so I switched up to the 7000 which so far is working beautifully--three full days even with frequent data use and call time.

The store owner is holding the 6100 for another week so that I can try to download the photos on to my laptop (I just bought an office data cable kit which works with both the 6100 and the 7000) but I have not figured out how to utilize the picture transfer app.

Glad your phone is working for you now...
