This information is for Cingular Wireless users only. These settings are to configure your Nokia 6230 Email Settings.
Note: Depending on your phone model some menus might be different (Nokia 6230 Menu Used)
Go to:
Menu>Messages>Message Settings>E-Mail Messages>Active E-Mail Settings>Empty.
Menu>Messages>Message Settings>E-Mail Messages>Edit Active E-Mail Settings.
Edit Active E-Mail Settings
Mailbox Name: Type any name (exp, Yahoo!, AOL, Carlos' Email etc.)
E-Mail Address: Your E-Mail address (exp, CarlosAcosta08@aol.com)
My Name: The name u want it to appear in your Email address (optional)
Outgoing (SMTP) Server: Your SMTP server name (exp, smtp.aol.com)
*Click here for common server names
*If not listed, Please Obtain IMAP And SMTP server names From your ISP
Incoming Server Type: IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol), POP3 (Post Office Protocol)
Incoming (IMAP4) Server: Your IMAP4 Server Name (exp, imap.aol.com)
IMAP4 User Name: Name you use to login your Email Account (exp, CarlosAcosta08)
IMAP4 Password: Password you use to login your Email Account (*****)
Other Settings
Include Signature: Name you want to appear at the bottom of every Email you send (exp, Always Carlos)
Use SMTP Authorization: Yes
SMTP User Name: Name you use to login your Email Account (exp, CarlosAcosta08)
SMTP Password: Password you use to login your Email Account (*****)
*Depending on your ISP Your IMAP4 Username might be different than your SMTP User Name (Contact your ISP)
Outgoing (SMTP) Port: Obtain From ISP (In many servers 25 is the SMTP Port)
Incoming (IMAP4) Port: Obtain From ISP (In many servers 110, 143 or 993 is the SMTP Port)
Reply-To Address: Dont really Know what it does (optional)
Retrieve E-Mail: How many E-Mails you want to store in your phone (exp, 22)
Retrieval Method: How you want your Inbox to be organized (exp, Latest or Latest Unread)
SMTP Connection Settings
Proxies: Enable
*Primary Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
*Port: 80
*Secondary Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
*Port: 8080
Data Bearer:GPRS
Bearer Settings
GPRS access Point: wap.cingular
Authentication Type: Normal
Login Type: Automatic
User Name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Go Back To Other Settings and go to "IMAP4 Connection Settings"
IMAP4 Connection Settings
Proxies: Enable
*Primary Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
*Port: 80
*Secondary Proxy: Wireless.cingular.com
*Port: 8080
Data Bearer:GPRS
Bearer Settings
GPRS access Point: wap.cingular
Authentication Type: Normal
Login Type: Automatic
User Name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1

*Test It by sending or Retrieving E-Mail

followed the steps to a 'T', and still can't get it to work. Using a gmail account and google provideds all necessary pop and smtp info. any suggestion?

I am having the same issue with gmail. My error is 'GPRS authentication failed' Any ideas?

i couldn't get pop to work errored w/ 'GPRS authentication failed'
- switched to imap and worked fine.
