Before I go and purchase this adaptor (MA-620), I was wondering if anybody can confirm that it works with the Nokia PC Suite 5.0 and 6610, for installing Java apps and games? The DSU-5 cable is more that twice the cost...
Thanks

I assume the MA-620 cable is the USB infrared unit. If it is then is should work.
I am also using a USB infrared (a no-name make) and it works fine.
The only problem I had with mine was the initial configuring. The default protocol that it was using (Infineon) does not work with the nokia phones, but another supplied protocol (SigmaTel 4000) did work. This is set in Windows control panel, using the device manager, and selecting the infrared device.
As the MA-620 is marketed for PC to Phone communication you may not have the problem I had ...

Great, thanks for your help, I think i'll go ahead with it.
It still anoys me though, why Nokia don't have Mac versions of their PC Suite software. My Mac is ready to go with built-in IR, Bluetooth and SyncML... wake up Nokia!

I bought a BAFO (another no-name brand) IrDA USB Adapter and at first had a little trouble with it. But if you goto Device Manager->Infrared Devices, double click your infrared adapter, then goto advanced, and in the drop down menu, make sure "Sigmatel 4000" is selected.
If you want any games email me. I will sell cds with java games for most phones for only $10 paypal. (I will also give you an instant link if you want to download them instantly)

Nokia PC Suit is no good for installing games as most of the time it dumps them in the applications menu for some reason. I bought an IrDA adapter for my PC, and then bought a copy of MobiMB from logomanager inc. its a really great program and worth buying.
