I tried with various lengths of time starting with 12,5. Then I cut the time shorter and shorter for every time. I varies a lot how much is left from time to time. After a couple of tries I had an completely empty phone and a bit more then 660 KB free. All games pics and sounds gone. BUT. Before I came to this point, the games were at one point gray, and I could delete them. So I did. Misstake. Because of that, they do not come back when I do a complete reset. The thing is that deleting them did not free up any space. No matter if they are grayed out, invisible or there (perhaps playable), they take the same amount of space (221 KB i belive...). I dont want the games there, but had I not deleted them I could get them back if I wanted to.
Around 5 seconds seems ideal for T310 by the way. But is seems benefitial to do a 12,5 first.
Here are my scores (so to speak).
round secs KB
1st 12,5 644
2nd 5,5 657
aso. 12,5 658
10 660
4 661
4,75 661
5,5 662
This steady increase in KB is interesting, but it seemed it stoped around 660...
Maybe the games would come back if I had the phone upgraded with a new revision of software...
Well. If anyone has an idea of how to fix the issue...
ps: If one could get access to all of the memory, that would be a bit more than 910 KB. That would be nice...

To Brunte:
I have the same symptoms as you have, BUT it's not a real problem: read my precedent posts about it.
Also, doing the 13s trick DOES NOT free more memory than a standard Master Reset because this one frees me around 660 KB each time I do it!

Thank you very much "axrj" for taking the time to reply!
I read your post yesterday so when I read your reply today, I thought: I should have remebered that... BUT. I donīt think I tried to beam the games after a complete reset yesterday (cause it doesnīt overwrite the games when running the phone in "13 sec trick mode"). I dont feel like trying to do a complete reset right now, but if you say thats the way to get minigolf back then I belive you.
Conclusion: I think itīs a good thing that the trick exists, cause without it, itīs tricky to keep the phone from loading everything in RAM which leaves the phone with about 540 KB of free RAM. Since I donīt have any interest whatsoever in the preinstalled crap except minigolf, I gain around 66 KB with Minigolf installed and around 122 without it (the option to remove it is a good thing).
I donīt have the energy to do the following right now but: If one was to get the timing right, one could be left with only Minigolf not deleted (and maybe 4 black and white pictures or something) resulting in THPS4, the cardgame..., sounds and pictures not loaded.
Still: What is most beneficial about this whole ado is in my opinion the possibility to only have YOUR OWN stuff installed in the phone (disregarding the " I want as much memory as possible issue").
I hope there is a possibility that someone could program an application installable and considered by the phone as being a game, that could delete even the preinstalled games from RAM. I guess game applications are restricted from doing that in general, but if someone could find som backdoor or something...
Well well...
What has to be said though is: Even if Sony Ericsson (in our opinion) made a crappy choise in not letting us decide ourselves what shall be in the memory, The latter T-models e.g. T300, T310 and T610 are realy great fun at a very reasonable pricing. Hope they donīt prove to break down to quickly thought..

So, what exactly the free memory is good for other than be able to upload more games, pictures, etc.? Is the phone's software/menu faster? Can you recover everything once you delete all T-Mobile icons, etc.? It is my girlfriend's phone; if I screw it, I am in big trouble

Hi guys
i have been reading all the stuff about the 12 sec trick and have experimented a lot with my own phone. The max i have been able to obtain is 662KB. But i have noticed the following problems after this trick:
1. The phone turns considerably slower after this trick. Opening of new messages, scrolling down the address book, changing themes etc all take much longer time. If u wanna test it, try scrolling down the inbox mesgs by pressing the Joystick downward. It is damn slow after this trick.
2. The keylock icon, GPRS icon, and other icons dont appear where they normally do.
3. The games are also slower and certain features dont work. I donwloaded Synvergenix Rally from the Mophungames site after i had done the trick. When i did a complete master reset, i was surprised to find some new sound effects and the game was much faster.
4. I feel it affects the internal file system as well. As u keep donwloading stuff, the Free memory mysteriously keeps disappearing. After a few downloads, adding up free memory and the size of teh stuff i had downwnloaded kept getting lower. I had started with 662KB and after a few downloads, the free mem plus the downloaded stuff amounted to a mere 610KB.
5. It affects the battery backup time as well. B4 the trick i was getting 4-5 days of normal usage. but after this trick, it reduced to 2-3.5 days. It appears that the phone CPU is always busy doing something.
Tired of all these probs, i finally did a complete master rest.
And PRESTO!! the phone is back to being quitefast again. the scrolling speed has increaed manifold, the games are much faster, the icons appear where they are. I will comment onthe battery time after a few observations.
My advice: YOU get only 100 KB or so more after thios trick. But considering the probs, think a million times b4 u decide for it.
