Its strange but for some people if you have done the XXsec. trick your phone won't restore.
I don't have a resolve!
But when I find out what it could be i'll report it!

It wouldn't be a problem if i could just restore one tune that comes with my T310. And thats the one called "Autumn Sky" or something like that. It was a tune worth keeping. icon_sad.gif

hi i am in melb, australia and just brought a T610 (from vodafone, but dont think its a live! one... how to check?)

i would really like to try this trick but would like to know from the ppl who have tried it on the T610

1. have you noticed any increase in LAG in any of the phone's operations?
2. the freed memory stays usable and free? even if you create and del more pics?
3. what is firmware? (biggie)

4. in your opinion... is it worth it? i think extra space over useless poofy initial images and games they give you is plenty reason to do this

any reply be nice,

thanks!! icon_biggrin.gif

Do not try this trick on your T610. Not that it will not work, but a simple Master Reset will free up to 2 MB.

I had tried the trick on my T310 and had a memory status problem with the games... it told me that there were 210 KB used by the games while there was none installed. So I have returned the phone... and got a T610 instead... very good phone! icon_cool.gif

can the people who have tried this tell me the difference?

mainly in the actual amount of Free Space available on the phone afterwards

with the factory reset, does it get rid of those crappy images and game at the start when you first brought your phone?

some ppl have claimed (in this thread) to have freed up to 2.5 megs on their T610?

will you get this with the factory reset too?

Since axrj had memory status problems after trying the trick with his T310, I've decided not to perform the operation. However, after doing a master reset, I have freed up 2186 KB on my phone. I have kept the 'classical' theme - I don't know what will happen if I delete it, so I've left it for fear of messing up the phone. I've also kept minigolf, since that's the main game I play.

The theme takes up 51 KB, while minigolf uses 68 KB. Howver, certain predefined items remain, and are not deletable...

- In 'my sounds', there are 5 items totalling 37 KB.
- In 'my pictures', there are 2 items totalling 1 KB.

So I guess if I performed the trick satisfactorily, I'd theoretically get 2343 KB of space to use. But like I said, my minigolf will stay. And I'm not deleting the last theme on the phone, since I don't know what will happen if I do. Seems that with the trick, you get about 150 KB more space than you would do with the master reset. It's up to you, if you think it's worth the risk of the 'trick'.

After the master reset, there is a little lag in menu operations. This only lasts a few seconds before the operation times return to normal.

Hope the info has helped.

@ShortStuff

If you delete the Classical theme, it won't harm your phone.
Because you need the same amout of memory as the size of the theme is to load it so it will stay loaded in your memory.
Because I did it on my phone and my Abstract theme was deleted from my phone but i still had the theme loaded and it works perfectly
But when you delete it and you load another theme in your phone then your Classical theme will be deleted from your phone and you won't get it back!

hello, i just got a t300 a couple days ago, and i tried the trick today. it took wite a few times to get rid of the stuff. no matter what time i took out the battery, it always had 4 basic rings and the erix game still on it. when i reset it, i lost the t-zones thing, and i was unable to cennect to the net or t-zones. i'm currently on hold trying to get that fixed.

when i check memory status, it only shows me 250 for the phone and the sim card. that's the address book, right? how do i find what the real memory is?

I just got a T616. Somewhere down the road I may care about freeing up the memory, but right now all I want to do is restore the wap icon to the default. AT&T's mMode icon is so badly designed that it's painful to have to look at. So far, nothing I've tried has had any success in removing any of AT&T's predefined items (startup screen, theme, wap icon, etc).

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks,
bean

You have made the right choice because that 13s trick is not a clean (and safe) solution. FYI, I've got my T310 refunded and bought a T610 instead... it's excellent!

@revbean
Your phone has been customized by your operator. The only way to get rid of it is to flash your phone with a default Sony Ericsson firmware.

How? It seems that going to a Service Center will not help you because they can't (read "don't want" in my opinion) delete the customization... but you can do it yourself. You must buy a T28/68 unlocking cable and pay for an online flash.

Do not ask me more details as I have never tried. Good luck anyway!
