I have read a few entries, but was wondering whether the trick works on the T610-- i bought it on Vodafone and it has a large amount of pre-installed rubbish that i cannot delete.

Cheers ppl

Hi all,
Just bought my T300
Good thing get a standard 600kb.. not bad!
But I got some T-Mobile stuff and I want to get rid off.
The bootscreen is not a problem however I want a "screensaver" bootscreen.
But the shutdown screen is also from T-Mobile and I really want to get rid off that shutdown screen.
Deleting the image won't help because it will restore it when I turn my phone off.
Is there any way to remove it by the XXseconds trick or something else..
And that icon of wap of T-Mobile.. that also must be deleted.

If it can be fixed with the "13" seconds trick, I don't wanna lose the standard ringtones.. but the My Images can be empty for me.. themes is also not really a problem because I got a DC.

The problem is.. I Don't Got T-Mobile... I Got Vodafone!
And I bought this phone without sim-card / simlock-free

TIA!

I recently did the 12.5 second trick and left it that way for a few months. Now that I try a master reset, it will not allow me to regain all that was lost!?! So maybe someone can help me or tell me why I am having this problem???

Thanks,
Armand

I have noticed various people talking about the T610 on vodafone and if this trick works... So I tried it several times - here are the results. Bit long winded I know but I think I covered everything!!! icon_razz.gif

My phone is running firmware R1A, dont know if this really makes a difference or not.

tried the reset trick with various times (using my watch from the moment I confirmed the phone lock code which is 0000 by default) about 8, 10, 12 and 13 seconds, removing the battery for about 30 seconds each time.

After inserting the battery again and switching on the phone takes about 30-45 seconds to sort itself out before it asks for your pin (if you've set one)

Essentially I get the same result each time, all the ringtones have gone, bar 3, relaxed soul, funky pop and ibiza party (memory status shows 0kb used for sounds though)

All themes have gone, except Blue and Vodafone.

All games have gone, except minigolf (colourbug and q*bert also uneffected).

as for the pictures, to start with all I see for each one is the hourglass icon - but slowly one by one the images appear and the free space reduces. All pictures that I had taken and saved were deleted though

Once this process had finished the memory usage was as follows:

1705kb free with 485kb in pictures and 94kb used in themes - everything else reports 0kb used.

All my SMS and MMS messages have gone along with the contents of the phonebook (backed up to sim FIRST thankfully).

Vodafone live! seems uneffected also - I can connect and do all the usual stuff (which in my experience is not a lot....)

Also the phone no longer displays the SE start up animation when switched on - it does display the shutdown one though...

I had not downloaded any new games/themes or pictures so I can't comment on how these are effected.

A full (as in un-interupted) reset did not restore the original ringtones and themes, pictures still remain uneffected, still do not have the switch-on animation although I have to be honest I don't really care about that. icon_wink.gif

So the verdict: freed up about 900kb of space - still have some crappy vodafone branding especially the images. So it sort of works - if space is all you care about. I guess if you are unsure then don't do it. If the phone is under warranty then what the hell - do it and if it stuffs up ask for a new one.

On a different note I have heard that there is a firmware upgrade (R1L) which will remove all branding on the phone if installed - this needs to be done by a SE service centre or somone with the necessary kit... I am probably going to give this a go next - so I'll let you all know what happens... icon_smile.gif

hope this helps - oh and my phone still works (at the moment anyway)...! icon_biggrin.gif

i've just spent a while searching the web and it seems the best bet is to send it off to SE and ask them to do it.

I really don't want to be left with a crapped up phone. I was so disapointed when i received my T610, turned it on to find the most shitty menu icons - they look like they were made in MSDOS 1.0
