Could anyone tell me the difference in using a 64k sim versus the 32k? I have heard that the reception is better with the 64k. Is this true and is this the only difference? I am trying to decide if it is worth getting a new sim.

the 64k sim has more storage capacity. it is also encoded so that it automatically switches to the stronger signal given the presence of an att or cingular tower.

So the 32k doesn't pull from the strongest signal?

No. Say for example like in Chicago, ATTWS and Cingular towers are present and overlap. A 32k will not autodetect the strongest signal between the two - it will prefer your current provider's tower until it can no longer get a signal. So, if you're carrier is Cingular, it will continue to use the Cingular tower even if it is weak, even though you could possibly have full signal with the ATTWS tower.

The 64K SIM does not have more storage capacity (referring to #'s). It holds the same amount of #'s (250) as the 32K SIM.
