Hello Mobile Land Folks!
I have looked all over the Net... and even sent an email to LG customer support but can't find an answer anywhere.
Is there a way to take an external image (photo), download it to your phone, and use it as a caller id photo?
I am able to take a picture with the built-in camera set to "Photo ID" and attach it to a contact with no problems. That works fine. But I want to be able to use a photo that wasn't created by the camera phone.
I am told by LG Customer service that a photo in the correct "Photo ID format" will (magically appear???) be available in the photo gallery list and all you have to do is select it. That's not workign for me. I edited a photo in Photoshop, set the image size to 96 x 96 (Photo ID size), saved it as a jpg, reduced the file size to 4k, and emailed to my phone.
I receive the photo and save it to the phone and it looks great -- but it only shows up in the Graphics Gallery and I have no way to attach it to a contact.
Any ideas?
Thanks a bunch for your help!

Hello tbattista,
From your PC, you need to send an email attachment to the MMS address of your phone.
Open the email application on your PC and attach the image. Make sure the image is pretty small – about 25k max. You may need to use Photoshop or some other image editing software to reduce the size. The smaller, the better.
After you attach the image to your email message, send it to the MMS address of your cell phone – not the TEXT (sms) address! There is a big difference. For Cingular Wireless, the MMS address is "<your cell phone number>@mms.mycingular.com"
Example: 2025679034@mms.mycingular.com
Make sure your phone is set to download MMS messages: Menu > 2.Messaging > 5.Download Messages > 2.Receive > 1.Yes
When you receive the message on your phone, save the attachment (Save Item).
That should do it!
Cheers,

I am trying to get graphics to be able to be selected as backgrounds for my exteral display. I have the graphics at 96*96 sent them to myself in email and also as an mms. but when I save them, they are not available to be used for external display... only internal display wallpaper. I just can't figure this out either. Can ANYONE help me with this? what is the trick? I know i can take a pic with the cam phone set at 96*96(pic id size) and those can be used as wallpaper for the ext display, but i really want some pics i have on my comp for that display. PLEASE anyone help??

No, no answer so far. So, what I am doing is this... it's a royal pain in the a** but it's the only thing i can figure to do so far...
When I find a pic that I REALLY like for my internal display, I print it out, high quality photo papr, then take a pic of it with my phone and use that for my external display to match the internal.
I know this sucks as a solution, but until some one can figure out another way, or until some 'company' (are you listening LG and Cingular?) come up with the software to make our lives a little easier with these phones, then this is how I'm gonna be doing it.
