First of all: buy only original Nokia-Batteries!
Cheap No-Name from Asia mostly don't have a overcharging-protection and could explode!
My Nokia has came with the "Battery BLD-3" and it seems to be the best available battery for this phone.

yeah i understand not to buy non factory... but is the BLD-3 the best you can get? (Original nokia batteries only of course)
I have one of another brand (synnex or something?) which was given to me for free with a desktop charger when i bought my 6610, its got overcharge protection, but the battery life is useless... one days use and its dead by the end of the day :/

The official Nokia-Batteries are listed at the end of the manual. The BLD-3 is listed as the best of them. Most power, longest lifetime.
I'm very pleased with it. It holds normaly 8-10 Days (I don't use the phone very often the last days, mostly used for SMS), 300 h (12 1/2 days) are mentioned as maximum on the Nokia-Website. When the phone is heavy used, it's holds for up to 5 days.
For me it's to long...
most time I forget, where I put the charger I'm getting old

ok, so BLD-3 it is ummm just out of interest though, is it the phone or the battery that needs a 1st time 'wake up' charge? do i have to charge the battery for 16 hours for the 1st time?

The battery.
But... I've loaded my battery 1 1/2 h (normal charging time ), it was indicated as full, I unplugged the phone. Everythings fine... so I don't believe in this "wake up charging"-stuff... my old 6210... normal loading the first time, battery was 2 years at full power, no losing of strenght.
