Dear Mobilediaites,
I had my phone for 20 hours when I received my first Joke of the Day. Verizon says it's because the last guy that had my phone number was signed up. As a conspiracy theorist, I don't buy that explanation.
Verizon put a note in my record. When they charge me for the Joke at the end of the month, it will be easier for me to dispute the charge.
Anyway, to stop the Joke "service," the instuctions were: Send a Reply to the message. Send "Cancel," "Quit," or "Stop." Do not include the puctuation that I just typed, but only the single word of your choice.
"Stop Joke" was not one of the choices, and it may not stop them.
A minute later, I got a text message from 44544 "Glomobi," that said, "This message confirms that you have discontinued this service...."
I hope so.
Best luck,
-Neil-

We are trying to get a refund, but so far have not been able to reach a human! I will keep trying the 866 number. I sent an email to the address you recommended, so we'll see if I get an answer. She had also been receiving the Jamster wallpaper, but a refund has been promised; we'll see if it ever arrives. I hope we are successful with Joke of the Day, since her text messaging was disabled a month ago and they are still sending/charging jokes! |
My sis was in the same mess your daughter was, between jamster, holla mobile, and another service, the extras cost well over $40 a month...a quick call to t-mobile, and they issued me a credit for the overage, and they blacklisted the services. Once you send the stop text message to the respective services, the blacklist will keep them from sending text messages to the phone. Hope this helps!
