You bring your phone to Nokia Care Centre for firmware upgrading, it's free while under nokia warranty, I sugguest you goto Wheellock place at Orchard Rd, you can collect your phone in 4 hours. And go there before the store open to get a good queue number at the queue machine.

You can try the "backup and restore" i the nokia pc suite, it's help you to backup some of the data from your phone to your PC. If your BT can't work for this feature then transfer to your SIM card.

Error? the worst is your phone hang or reboot only. just remove the battery.

Generally every new nokia has a 1 year warranty in singapore.

I went to upgrade my phone's firmware at the Nokia service center near Tampines (I live in east area too). Went there, submitted the phone, watched a movie, came back, and all done.

Everything will be reset to factory settings. They asked you to sign an acknowledgement form saying that you know what will happen to your phone for this service. At that time, I only backed up my numbers to the SIM card because my phone was quite new.

Warranty period for Nokia's (in Singapore, as far as I know) is 1 year. You need to bring your warranty card, of course.

No, it's not possible to transfer firmwares to different phone model. Based on my understanding, firmware is a layer of software above the hardware level. Above that is the user interface. But for phones, I guess they are both combined as one.

List of changes to 5.24 (from another forum):
1. You can see Caller ID with any wallpaper - when someone calls you, the wallpaper becomes much much lighter, but it stays there. I think this soluton by Nokia is better than changing color of fonts, as some of members requested. It is really cool. It is really better and smartder than in older 40series nokias.
2. Icon Services is now called "Web"
3. new 'Instant messages' in the 'messages' menu
4. After you take a picture, main NAVI button says 'Send' but not 'Delete'
5. Music player playlist automaticaly sees all the mp3 from mmc, no matter in which folder where they are.
6. When the phone asks you to choose the folder (e.g. when you define where your photos will be stored from camera options menu), main NAVi button is 'SET' instead of 'Open', if you want to open folder (go deeper) have to choose Options->Open folder
