I get up to 5 phone calls a day (threw my landline) for absoulte rubbish. Sometimes when I pick up the phone nobody is there and then the line goes dead - at first I though it was just a prank caller but this has been going on for about a month!!
Majoirity of the time though it is telemarkerters!! Need I say more.
You've got to feel sorry for them really, its got to be one of the worst jobs out there, I mean I work in retail and I know how hard it can be to sell customers things they don't want or rather, don't know they want, but at least they are showing some interst in the product plus they only talk to people over the phone and so cant use things like body language and facial expression to there advantage.
They are still bloody annoying and they never let you hang-up!!!

My tactic for telemarketers...
be calm and codial.... politley ask them the name of their company...and the callers name... then ask for the supervisor...once the supervisor is there ask to be removed from the calling list ... legally speaking they have to comply... or risk losing their business.....I went from 3-4 calls a day to less than 1 per month...

I just don't pickup the phone at all. My answer machine is there for a reason. If it is important, they will leave a message.

Thank god this sort of marketing doesn't exist in Germany
...unless you gave your phone number away... like when you take part of lotteries where you automatically agree that they might call you.
All over I had about 10 calls in my life... not very annoying

It is annoying most of the time. They even call on a Sunday night in my case.

If there is a girl on the line with a sexy voice I can't say no
But the 10 calls I had... I don't really care about it and sometimes it is fun...
I was once called for a survey about the politicians who govern Berlin... what people think about them and how they think about their govern... I only knew one of them

I don't get a lot of telemarketing callers but when I do I have an absolute riot with them and usually they only ever call me the one time because they are so frustrated. LOL
I have had phone companies calling me to use them for my long distance. I told one person that called me on my landline that I don't even have a phone. He wasn't sure how to respond seeings as how he called me and I answered.

Ha ha i did telemarketing for a stint. but it was for police fundraising so at first they wouldn't hang up on us. some people were funny as hell and i would just throw jokes right back at them and they would end up donating because i was real with them.

I told one telemarketer about the deer running across my back yard. Another one was a telemarketer looking for another person and since it was the second time for that person in a day I told them that this person must have been one great lay, he freaked and hung up. I had another one convinced that I was an 18 year old gay man dating a 53 year old and that I didn't watch TV or read magazines or newspapers because I got all of my news on the internet, oh and our adopted kids got kicked outside all day long to play and were not allowed back in until dark.
