Hey guys, I just bought a brand new Samsung E630 and for some reason when I turn it on, it freezes on the T-Mobile Start up screen. I cannot access any menus, or do anyhting. I have swapped out 3 different working sims cards and same problem. In the midst of talking to teh company I bought it from but you guys got any ideas? Thanks

try some reset codes...not sure which one you should try. i'll do a search and see what i can find about reset codes. i always do the whole bunch when i have problems with my phone. i flash often so sometimes the flash i get are unstable, so reset codes sometimes help.

*2767*FULL# -Resets the EEPROM
*2767*CUST# -Resets the sustom EEPROM
*2767*WAP# -Resets WAP Settings
*2767*STACKREST# -RESETS STACK
STACKREST may not work
You can also reset the media, but read the warnning:
*2767*MEDIA# Resets the media on phone DELETES all downloaded PICS/TONES
example: *2767*FULL# = *2767*3855#
and so on...

I also just bought the E630 and am having the same problem. I bought the phone off Ebay and was told by the seller *before making the purchase* that I should try switching to the new sim card - the 64k sim card since I have the 32k. I'm planning on buying a sim card at the local T-Mobile retailer tomorrow. Hope it works??
Besides the "new sim card" theory, can anyone provide any assistance or helpful information? I'm desperate but also feeling a little helpless right now.

Also I tried a buddies tmobile card and his worked fine with no problems. When I comapred the sim cards his has a circle in the chip and mine is more rectangle. Is there a diffrence.. like in cingular cards there is a 32K and 64K card? Thanks

Haven't confirmed this, but I will still share what I have heard from one of my friends.
He bought a E630. He said that he couldn't get ANY standard T-Mobile USA sim chips to work (neither his nor his parent's) with the phone. He said he had to go back and purchase a circular/ovalar chipped SIM.
Edit:
Here's the long convo, I've masked his and my S/N and abridged the convo, but it's the general gist of it:
Friend (F): i got new phone
Me (M): really?
M: what is it?
F: sgh-e630c
F: non-US
M: T-Mobo?
F: yes
M: you lucky sob
F: eBaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
F: i also had to get a new sim card
M: why?
M: what's wrong with your old one?
F: my old one didnt work w/ it
F: the shape of the chip
M: oh
M: they have a different shape?
F: this one is more oval like
M: really?
F: the old one is a square w/ rounded edges
F: my dad's and mom's sim didnt work either
F: 35 bucks for transfer
M: i see
