Hi
I currently use AT&T wireless service. When my Samsung X426 was broken, I went to Cingular store to buy a phone and was told Cingular phones would not work. I have to swich to Cingular service (at higher rate plan) and buy 3 new phones (mine and 2 more to replace my wife's and daugher's). I looked at the X427 and X427m for Cingular and they looked exactly the same as my AT&T X426. Does anyone know if these phones will work will my existing AT&T sim cards? Do I need to do anything special like unlocking the phones , etc.... Thank you in advance

You can't just take your AT&T sims cards and put them into CINGULAR phones...

The CINGULAR phones would definitely have to be unlocked for you to be able to do that.

Just my advice, but I would pick up an unlocked phone off eBay rather than switch to the more expensive Cingular service or pay full price for a new phone.

you can still use that phone, just unlock it. there's no need to pick up another phone if you can unlock for free or a small fee and use with current provider. you can check here for more info:

As long as its unlocked and supports your service providers frequency, your set, be careful when buying off ebay.
